About the adventure

The peace in region of Tethir has been disrupted. The region has been flourishing with trade and craft for the last 25 years, but the recent murders of human lords as well as some notable orc shamans at the border of human and orc domains could just be that spark, that will lead to the full scale war. The golden age of Tethir is at it's dusk. The neighbouring kingdoms are carefully observing the escalation, looking for opportunities and planning their next steps, in case the scales of war are significantly shifted. War, war never changes. What will be your role in all this? Silent observer? Passerby? A peacemaker or a menacing warmonger? As nobody ever did, or ever will, escape the consequences of his choices. The game will take place in the World of Tethir, a homebrew continent that is located to the south of the Sword Coast. The players will find themselves at first at a minor settlement of Ironwood, where by the will of the Fate their journey will begin. The players will be free to explore any or all of the available locations on this map: https://www.worldanvil.com/w/tethir-poiles/map/0db88f5b-492b-47a4-a5d0-16ed74c35b2f This is not a rail-road campaign In case you are interested, but the current time slot does not fit your schedule, write me a message. I am willing to run the game every Monday/Wednesday/Friday.

About me

I've been a DM for more than 6 years for several groups playing DnD 5e and my main rule about playing any TTRPG is to have fun. Fun is the centerpiece why we love this hobby, and why I want to run more games. Fun games create amazing memories for the rest of your life, and create friendships that last beyond the table time together across countries and time zones.

Character creation

Creating your character

I am generally inclined on using the official DnDBeyond available Races and classes that I will be sharing access to with players, so they don't need to buy any of the source books. However, if a player has an idea of a character based on the homebrew class that is listed on the DnDBeyond Platform, I am very eager to check it. The general rules of the character creation: - Starting from level 2 - Point-buy system - Basic adventuring equipment with the addition of special items based on the character backstory. It is highly advisable for the players to have their backstories linked to at least one of the places on the campaign map: https://www.worldanvil.com/w/tethir-poiles/map/0db88f5b-492b-47a4-a5d0-16ed74c35b2f I will help each player to create a fitting backstory for the character

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will use Discord.gg for communication and it is very important for all of us to have their camera's ON and to have a good microphone. That really helps to establish a friendly and collaborative playing environment. Players are advised to take notes during the campaign to remember key NPC and locations The player will need an account on DnDBeyond.com for his character sheet. If you are a beginner, do not worry about remembering all the rules of 5e, as I will be guiding you though each of the elements of the gameplay.

What Mikalai brings to the table

I will be sharing the materials that I own on DnDBeyond with the players, which include almost all of the existing Sourcebooks. For battles we will also use newly developed battlefield which is integrated into DnDBeyond. The appropriate to the moment music will be played on the background during the game. When it comes to rules, I do not lead the game rules as written 100%, as some of the most incredible moments in this hobby were when Rule of Cool was used. However it doesn't mean the character can just say "I jump from the airship, that is high in the sky, and land unharmed" (even though he has no means of doing that, other than fall to death). Everything has it's limits. I value when players use their tactical wit against the opponent, that also tries their best. The players should always remember that DM doesn't play against the party, he is just another enjoyer, but with more responsibility and authority over the game.
