About the adventure
🔥 DESCENT INTO AVERNUS: and the Broken Chains of Hell 🔥 One of the most iconic cities in Dungeons & Dragons lore—Elturel—has fallen into the claws of devils. Its people, gripped by terror, scramble to save their souls, while others seek redemption... all trapped in a nightmare made real. But the devils’ greed knows no bounds: Baldur’s Gate is next. In the Nine Hells, betrayal runs deep. Devils and demons turn on each other, while desperate mortals strike dark bargains, selling their souls for fleeting power. The chains of Hell strain and rattle, threatening to break free and unleash an infernal tide—cunning devils and loathsome demons, hungry for souls, clawing their way into the world above. You are the last hope. As heroes, you must fight not only for your own souls but for the countless lost. You’ll face ruthless infernal forces, learn the secrets of devilish contracts, and protect Baldur’s Gate from being dragged down into the abyss. Like an old devil once whispered: "What’s worse than a devil you don’t know? A devil you do." The chains of Hell are groaning... ready to snap. Will you stop them in time? Can you save Baldur’s Gate—and the entire Sword Coast—from Avernus’ wrath? ⚔️ Adventure Details: For 3 to 6 players. Heavy roleplaying and teamwork are essential—survival depends on it. Levels 1 to 13+ epic journey. Special rules will be discussed during Session 0. Perfectly welcoming to new players! We’ll play using the 2014 D&D rules. Your nightmare begins soon. Will you rise to the challenge—or fall with the rest?
Game style
Combat Heavy
“Combat Heavy” games emphasize the combat mechanics within their systems over roleplay or puzzle solving. There are frequent and longer battles with enemies and a greater emphasis on tactical game play.
Dungeon Crawl
A “Dungeon Crawl” is a scenario where players navigate a dungeon or labyrinth-like environment for the entirety of the adventure. It emphasizes battling monsters, collecting loot, and avoiding traps to survive to the end!
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
Sandbox / Open World
In "Sandbox" or "Open World" games, players are given a tremendous amount of freedom to pursue their stories without the restrictions of a more linear game style. Players are encouraged to explore and engage with the world, and find their own story as they do so. These games offer the players the opportunity to help drive the narrative, and allow for the story to evolve organically through the choices they make.
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.
Organized Play
Organized Play uses a standardized ruleset for character creation, leveling, and rewards. Every character plays by the same rules. Its strength is flexibility: bring your character to any table and jump right in. With tight rule adherence, every game feels consistent, fair, and ready for adventure.
⚔️ DESCENT INTO AVERNUS: THE SWORD TO SAVE A CITY ⚔️ Level 7 | 2014 Rules | Ongoing Campaign | Now Recruiting Elturel has fallen. The city hangs above the scorched wastelands of the Nine Hells, chained and burning — a once-holy bastion now a battlefield of devils and despair. Among the victims was Grand Duke Ulder Ravengard, dragged into Hell alongside the city. From afar, a group of heroes watched in horror as the disaster unfolded. They knew they couldn't stand by. They had to act. Their perilous journey through infernal realms paid off — they fought through fire and blood to rescue the Grand Duke and return him to Baldur’s Gate. But the city of Elturel still hangs in torment, and time is running out. Now, guided by a celestial companion — the hollyphant Lulu — the heroes have discovered the key to saving the city: the lost Sword of Zariel, an archangel who once led Heaven’s charge into Hell. But Avernus does not give up its secrets easily. Twisting mazes, cursed ruins, and memories lost in time guard the path. Lulu has seen the sword... but her mind is fractured, her visions unclear. A Barbarian, a Wizard, a Cleric, and a Sorcerer press on, but they need help. Will you stand with them? Will you help them recover the light that could save a city from damnation? 🛠Game Info: Level: 7 System: D&D 5E (2014 ruleset) Setting: Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus Tone: Infernal mystery, divine hope, brutal survival Style: Roleplay-rich, puzzle-solving, exploration-heavy, emotional stakes ✅ Looking for: Players who enjoy celestial lore and infernal intrigue Characters drawn to divine artifacts, redemption arcs, or saving the innocent Team players who love storytelling, exploration, and tough choices Consistent, respectful adventurers ready to dive into Hell
