About the adventure

You know you want to... here's your chance to be the antagonist! Stick with your party, work together, at least until the final moments, and bring your ambitions to bear. Yes, there will be some other conflict or crisis going on, but you can use the chaos to climb the ladder of power, craft magic artifacts, or make pacts with the powers of darkness... anything to bring the world to its knees. It's open world, and creativity is encouraged. Probably not for the faint of heart. Since atrocities are likely to occur, this campaign will be 18+

About me

In college I made my own table top adventure game, Chaotica. Everyone told me it was like D&D, which I tried years later, but still prefer my own creation. Now I'm here with Chaotica transformed into a spreadsheet that lets me create maps, characters, factions, lore, branching story lines, and more with the push of a button. Chaotica may be right for you if you want: -Combat that doesn't last forever and a story that moves forward with a regular pace -To play in open worlds without railroading while also maintaining a good story structure -Easy to learn games that don't get hung up on rules and focus on story -To use an RPG to learn a second language (English or Spanish) -To use an RPG to write a novel, with an experienced writer to help you work things out -Procedural stories created just for you -Fast and interesting one-shots that can easily evolve into larger games if desired -Chapter based campaigns that can be replayed to get different endings. -Did I mention that I encourage you to research your own spells? What you will *not* see in my games: -Lots of pretty maps and artwork. Hard to produce on the fly. -Published scenarios and campaigns from D&D and other systems. I can imitate them though, if you like. FATE appears quite similar to Chaotica. -Voice acting. I can do it, but it's better when I don't.

Character creation

Creating your character

We can create characters in session zero, but feel free to bring anything you like to the table to make sure they mesh with the other players. If you do not bring a character, I can make one for you, no problem. Anything you have in other game systems will probably work, since Chaotica is very flexible, or even if you just have an archetype in mind that you want me to fill out.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Make a villainous plan, of course! We'll be working with some kind of fantasy world, but we'll generate the details on the fly or in session zero. Feel free to come up with some section of the world together with your character to and we can integrate it. Do you want to be an overlord, and gain political and military power? Your teammates will probably want places on your ruling council, and power struggles are to be expected, but please don't openly betray each other until the end. Do you want to appear to be a heroic adventuring party while making secret plans to take control? Gain the trust of the people or influential parties, and ride the tide to the levers of power. Do you want to go a darker route, and delve dungeons for lost artifacts, forge them yourself, or use forgotten powers to reshape the world to your liking? Bring your plans to the table in session zero and we'll find a way to make them work together.

What Samuel Foreman brings to the table

I bring my fast and flexible home-made system, Chaotica! I've been told it's basically FUDGE. Never worry about reaching the edge of the map, or always running into the same monsters. Open worlds and open stories, with many endings to choose from and paths to forge. I don't have music, pretty maps, or figurines, but I'm open to options that work with my system. Maybe one of those AIs someday. For now, you have the promise of adventure without boundaries.

Safety

How Samuel Foreman creates a safe table

We will have a session zero where you can make known your hard limits, but expect a pretty dark and horrific campaign, given the premise. We can, of course, avoid certain themes, but anything is potentially on the table if you don't flag it from the beginning. As far as characters go, start from a lowish level, and expect to level quickly. Make sure the party is all on the same page so your goals at least mostly align. Chaotica is basically FUDGE, so don't worry too much about character details unless you have something specific in mind. I can give you something to work with either way.
