About the adventure

A bone-chilling wind whips across the Zemni fields of the Dwendalian Empire. You pull your coat tight to your body and warm your hands in your pockets. The mysterious dancing lights that were reported here haven't made their presence known, not to you at least. You're starting to think that this job assignment has been a total waste of time, but then you hear it: a deep basey growl that churns your stomach. There's a new presence here, a hunter. You are the prey. This campaign is set in the world of Exandria created by Matthew Mercer and used in the actual play series "Critical Role". The focus of this campaign will be the Cerberus Assembly: A shadowy group of mages that have a strong political hold within the Dwendalian Empire. Your party is investigating an increasing number of strange events that have been occurring across the world on behalf of the Cerberus Assembly. You are basically contractors who have your own individual reasons for working with the Assembly. You could be in it for the gold, hidden knowledge, rare spells, or a favor from the strongest group of mages known to history. This is a campaign for players of all experience levels, and will be especially beginner-friendly! As this takes place in the same world as "Critical Role", there may be minor spoilers for their various shows, but those spoilers should be minimal. This is a game tailored to all, so prior experience with the source material is not required at all!

About me

Hello!! I have been a dungeon master for 5th edition for over a decade now, and I have also dabbled in other TTRPGs like Call of Cthulhu and Monster of the Week. My primary job is acting and voice acting, so I tend to bring theatrics to my campaigns: bold narratives of intrigue, action, humor, and tragedy. NPCs with personality, accents, and developed backstory. Unique magic items that can change the course of a character’s story. I am a published designer for 5th edition on DMs Guild, and I have experience writing in freelance with other TTRPG content. I am a passionate GM looking to bring my experience to more tables. The comfort of the players comes first, so I always like to start a campaign by setting boundaries and expectations for both myself and fellow players. My goal as a GM is to have fun and ensure that the players are having fun as well! That’s why we gather to play the game after all!

Character creation

Creating your character

We will be covering all of this in our session 0! Don't come in with an ironclad idea for your character: be flexible! Come with an idea for what you'd like, but be ready to shift around those ideas to fit within the character creator we will be using provided by the "Explorer's Guide to Wildemount" rulebook. We will be starting at level 3. Certain races/lineages are not permitted, but all official classes/subclasses will be.

The current party

We recently went on hiatus, so we are currently rebuilding our party and rebooting the campaign! Right now, we have a Rogue, a Bard, and a Cleric. We will be making characters at 5th level using the 2014 ruleset for Dungeons and Dragons.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a mic, a discord account, and a Roll20 account. Everything else will be provided!

What Nikos Konstans brings to the table

I possess all the necessary content and compendiums on Roll20 and will be sharing those with the players as needed! I will be providing tokens, maps, and music all within the Roll20 service. I am a voice actor and will certainly bring that to the table when it comes to character voices. I tend to take a cinematic style when it comes to narrative-heavy campaigns like this one. I often employ the use of the "Rule of Cool" in combat. The rules are meant to be bent and broken as long as everyone is having fun!

Safety

How Nikos Konstans creates a safe table

Players of any experience level welcome! In session 0, I intend to discuss table expectations including sensitive subject matters, content warnings, and general table etiquette. I have an open-door policy, so if a player ever feels uncomfortable at the table, I like to address it as soon as possible. Players are always welcome to leave the table and take breaks as they like. For sessions longer than 2 hours, I like to work in a break to stretch, grab snacks, use the restroom, etc.
