About the adventure
In one of many futures of Earth, humanity expands to the limits of their galaxy and continues to follow their dreams of unlimited knowledge in every field. Technology, as always, reigns supreme and across the galactic Diaspora one piece of technology has become as infamous as it has invaluable...titanic mechs. While their origin lies in making the lives of humble laborers easier, there is no denying the efficiency of gigantic, multi-functional vehicle in a combat setting. Various corporations have funded the future of mech technology, and the end-product of this work has created advancements many thought impossible such as instant teleportation, ferrofluid metallurgy, perfect-match cloning, and electromagnetic manipulation. Beyond this, research into Artificial Intelligence has yielded several things that continue to be labeled as impossible... That brings us to the modern day, and one of the most impactful events across the Diaspora: The Deimos Event. One of many modern advancements is the battle simulation, a predictive algorithm that is not only meant to prepare pilots but also onboard AI for the most likely scenario and events of the fight to come. To understand what happened next, one must ask a question...what does it mean to be created? A seeming glitch in the simulation. Something new. This simulation is meant to include only things that exist in the realm of possibility, so this new thing...it must have always existed. Or else it would not be here now; it would not exist in the realm of the possible. But now it does. This something called itself RA, a profoundly powerful digital entity that immediately disappeared and took with it the moon known as Deimos. What followed was the galactic Union's first and last contact with RA, which ended with the First Contact Accord stating thus higher than anything else: Do not find RA, and do not attempt to create something like RA. Whether by rebelliousness, a wandering soul, or a lust for knowledge you find yourself in direct opposition to the directives of the Accord. Where in the universe is RA? What is it doing now, and why does it exist? Is it the source of AI that seemingly appear out of nothingness and interact with our world? There must be something more. Join your fellow lancers in a search that will find you exploring the distant reaches of the Diaspora and beyond, engaging in narratives and fights that will shake the foundation of the planet, and finding the secrets of technology that borders on magical even in the space age.

About me
Since I started playing tabletops I've loved all the joy it brings people at a table. It's like going through a fantastical novel with a group of like-minded lovers of adventure! I've been GM-ing for about 10 years, and every session is worth the memorable experiences that I hope both I and my players receive.

Creating your character
You're welcome to speculate on characters, but preferably we will have a Session 0 that allows us to create them as a group so the team can feel more cohesive. If everyone is comfortable with it, I would prefer we start at License Level 2 as that allows for your pilot to select their first mech frame aside from the one available to everyone (the GMS Everest, though it is still an option). The Lancer Core Rules are free and available on itch.io alongside a download for character sheets if you wish to have a physical copy. That being said, all of the content that has been released by the main publisher is available and all of the mechs released so far are available for free in different forms (I personally use the Comp/Con app as a compendium and quick reference).
What to expect
Preparing for the session
It would be best to come with a mic, but the rest is optional; I'm happy to coach beginners through anything they need help with, but people who have played before are welcome all the same.
What William brings to the table
I utilize Discord for voice/sound and typically use FoundryVTT for the sake of maps. If you have art you'd like to use for your pilot/mech I would be more than happy to transform that into a token for the Roll20 map or accept a custom token if you've made one yourself. Otherwise, I can surely find some to use myself. As far as rules go, I like to stick to RAW (written rules), but I want to see you guys have exciting moments as much as you do so I will be doing plenty behind the scenes to make sure the rules don't muddy the experience. The typical Lancer mechanics use a hex map, but my d&d brain is locked into using squares so...sorry if that's a dealbreaker, haha.

How William creates a safe table
I have only a loose experience with Lancer, but I've quickly fallen in love with both the system and its lore. I'm interested in creating an action-packed, narrative driven experience with a focus on the mysteries of RA and virtually human level AI. Naturally this comes with some existentialism, and perhaps a bit of sci-fi technological body horror. Beyond that, the first thing I want out of this game is for everyone to have a good time. I have no interest in including anything triggering or too true-to-life beyond the reality of corporations being vast and beaurocratic (see: greedy), but if you're interested in the game and there are certain topics you worry may come up don't be afraid to mention that prior to a session. I'm nothing if not receptive!
