Welcome to the last years of the Imperium, an era tens of thousands of years into the future. In this time the Known Universe is ruled by the Emperor and the Great Houses. It is a feudal place, where noble families rule whole planets in the service of the Emperor, but politic ruthlessly in the shadows for power and control...Despite the wealth and incredible technology available to the Great Houses, there is only one thing in the universe that really matters: the spice melange...Unfortunately, spice is only found on a single planet, and countless attempts to duplicate it have all failed. The planet in question is called Arrakis...No drop of rain has ever fallen on Arrakis, and the entire world is one vast desert full of deadly sandstorms and giant worms that can swallow buildings whole. So, the desert-dwelling Fremen of Arrakis know it by another name. The call it Dune. You find yourself on the surface of Arrakis six months after Paul "Muad'dib" Atreides ascended the throne of the Empire. It is your task to manage the goings on within the new Holy Imperium. Lady Jessica Atreides has returned to Caladan to isolate herself from the fanatical worshiping of her children. As a result, two conflicting factions of the Bene Gesserit have arisen on Dune: One which views Paul as the Kwizats Haderach--savior of the Fremen. The other views Paul as a false prophet, forced to his position with conditioning by his wicked, demon-possessed mother. Also new to the planet is the Kynes Institute, an academy meant to educate anyone (especially Fremen) about the greater galaxy and such. The Empire is changing, even as Muad'dib wages his jihad. Where will you fit in...?
