About the adventure

The soul of someone you love is currently lost somewhere in the Nine Hells. Trapped by a scheme bigger in scope than you know. Your job? Venture into hell itself to bring them back. Chains of Asmodeus is an adventure through the Nine Hells to save souls tricked by the Lord of Hell himself: Asmodeus. You'll face challenges ranging from rampaging demons to fiendish deals and the temptations that lurk below. Find powerful magic items as you climb to level 20 through this Dante's Inferno-esque descent through the layers of Hell on your way to confront Asmodeus himself. Be brave, warrior. The Inferno awaits you.

About me

I've been playing D&D for the last 20 years, and the last 8 of that have been as a DM. For the past 5 years, I have been professionally organizing and running D&D events for local businesses and communities. I use Foundry VTT for my sessions, with a big collection of animated maps and tokens to bring the game to life. I like to get my players invested in whatever world they're playing in, so I'm always happy to work with you on character creation and weaving in backstories. The game isn't fun for me unless everyone else is having a good time. And yes, I do voices.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be created in D&D Beyond prior to Session Zero. You'll have access to discord channels with guidelines to discuss character options and coordinate with the other players, as well as to ask any questions you'll need. All players will start at level 13, and stats will be assigned by Standard Array or Point Buy.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Minimum Requirements: - A desktop or laptop computer capable of running Foundry VTT - A stable internet connection - A desire to have fun! Preferred: - A webcam, and the willingness to use it. Being on camera is great for being able to capture body language, helps a lot with roleplay, and cuts down on cross-talk during sessions.

What Mike brings to the table

I have a Foundry VTT license, as well as years of experience with its ins and outs, and gigabytes of gorgeous maps. I also use music to enhance both ambience and combat atmosphere, including the ability to have "hype tracks" that play to announce a player's turn in combat. I try to give every NPC a unique voice (though I'm only human), make sure every player gets a chance in the spotlight, and love letting my players feel like badasses.

Homebrew rules

- Potions are a bonus action, unless feeding a potion to a downed character. - No flanking - Critical damage die are maxed

Safety

How Mike creates a safe table

I keep combat fast-paced and fluid, and give my players lots of room to RP and come up with creative solutions. There's also a lot of gags and wacky hijinks in my games, right alongside impactful moments and emotional character arcs. We use X-Cards, and so long as there is time at the end of the session, Stars and Wishes so that we always end on a positive note.
