Traveller: Adventures on the Horizon **Beginner Friendly**
Traveller | Campaign
About the adventure
Traveller is a crunchy, sci-fi, space opera. Fly starships, fight space pirates, and try to survive out in the black. Fair warning: combat in Traveller is deadly! In this game, you'll play as an experienced character setting out on a new adventure. We'll start with character creation, which is a mini-game in itself, in free, one-on-one sessions before our first paid session. You've been hired to crew a Far Trader from Caladbolg to Forine, hauling one of the highly-needed food shipments for the ice world. Should be simple, right? ... Right? Players will be able to build from this adventure into a broader, player-led campaign, if desired.
Game style
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.
We'll play every other Friday (unless I'm out of town). https://travellermap.com/?p=-96.531!55.07!8.2

Teacher
Super easy-going and amenable Game Master. No railroading, runs a sandbox very well. No delays and can improvise well and quickly when players do the unexpected. Able to explain a system to a new player in an easy to understand way that "sticks" after one explanation. 10/10 would attack and run from alien ED-209 again.
Tommy is a the best gm. He is intelligent, creative, and versatile. He has experience on both sides of the table, as player and gm, for many different systems, and always brings his best. He knows the rules of the game, but tends to treat them as guidelines more than rules. lol (ie if a player has an amazing idea they want their character to pull off, Tommy will help them figure out how to do it.) He wants everyone to have a good time. Tommy is a safe person for lqbtq, poc, and neurospicy folks. He will not suffer a**holes. Tommy is more than capable and willing to work within preset worlds, but excels at world building- seriously, the time and detail he puts into maps and world lore is ridiculous- the dude has created languages. He appreciates and works with any back story players provide for their characters, but never pressures you to put more into a character than you are willing or ready to do. He rewards good roleplay but makes sue you get plenty of action as well. He is very flexible and can work with just about any play style. Tommy is a trustworthy person and can be confided in if you think there is any issue or trigger that may come up for you. In the past, he has even given players a survey to fill out that will give him a sense of boundaries and lines players do not wish to cross to be sure everyone has a safe and friendly environment. I could go on and on about how amazing a dm and person Tommy is, but I'll wrap it up by just saying, if you play with Tommy, you'll have fun.
Tommy has run 100+ sessions for me throughout the years, and I can't think of a single time I didn't enjoy myself at his table. He has surprised and entertained me with a number of amazingly believable characters and unique story beats. Half the time, I can't tell if we are going off the rails or playing right into his plans because he adapts so seamlessly. He is always on the side of his players and strives to work with them to create PCs and stories that everyone at the table enjoys.
Tommy was my first GM and introduced me to TTRPGs. I am still happy to play at his table several years later. He is great for new players and runs a safe and supportive table. What ever setting you find yourself in he would be a great facilitator for your game. I have played with several GMs in many systems and I know that whenever Tommy is the GM it's going to be a good game!

How to prepare
Mic and Discord are required; webcam is optional.
What I provide
I always embrace the Rule of Cool, but I try to stick to Rules as Written as well. I try to do voices, but only if they aren't distracting to the gameplay. The story is everything.
