About the adventure
"Greetings, adventurer! I have a simple offer for you: Go on a series of quests for me! These quests will be varying degrees of dangerous and while I cannot guarantee your safety, I can guarantee that I will reward you handsomely for each and every one of them that you complete successfully. As I pride myself on honesty, I promise you that I will never have you take anything from the rightful owner. Are you interested?" This is not a short campaign. It will go as long as there is player interest. The campaign itself is a series of self-contained fetch quests. Given that the player characters are hired to go on these quests, there is a plot detail in place to readily explain character entrances and exits. Thus, players and characters can be in the overall campaign for a duration of their choosing. In regards to trigger warnings, they are potential and not guaranteed to be present. However, I do feel that it is better to list the ones that might pop as a just in case.

Meet the Game Master
About me
I have been a player and game master for several games for over 30 years. I have a home-brew background as well as a published TTRPG background. I tend to stick with older games, as I am often not fond of the newer versions. My style is partially scripted and partially off-the-cuff. I tend to be tough, but I always try to be fair. I'm not perfect and I do make mistakes. If I make one, let me know and I will rectify it. I have been know to chuck rules I don't like, or at least modify them (and make you know about them up front!) so that they are less unfavorable. I want my players to feel challenged, but still have fun. I prefer role-playing and not roll-playing. I am cool with new players and veterans. I stick to older editions of multiple games mainly because I actually prefer them over the newer editions as opposed to being too cheap to upgrade. That said, I am not above running a game in an edition I am not fond of, but I tend to charge more for it as the trade off.

Been playing an ongoing Vampire the Masquerade campaign with JP for the last few months now. He’s exceedingly knowledgeable about both the rules and lore of the universe and its been an absolute pleasure chatting with him about the various versions of the game, as well as learning new World of Darkness lore I’d never heard before! 💕 Being both extremely patient and a fantastic Storyteller, JP’s always willing to assist you with character creation and provide any explanations you may require regarding gameplay. In my case, he was exceedingly helpful when I was having trouble filling gaps in my character’s background - due to a few last minute alterations! We ended up spending a few hours discussing the ideas I had for building her whilst simultaneously geeking out over our favorite, and least favorite, aspects of V20 vs V5. 🧛♀️ Whether you’re already a long time Vampire the Masquerade fan, or just a curious outsider, looking to dip your toes into the genera, I’d highly recommend hanging out with us in either Caledonia, or Costa Linda, sometime! 😉✌️
The Storyteller is very well versed in the rules and is amazing in his story and planning of the night games. he lets each player blossom and be their character. he does not Stifel where the players want to go. He is also great about allowing the players also be social if the mood arises, but is also great about herding the cats. Over all a great experience. I have even inquired if he might run a different game and system.
Character creation
Creating your character
Players who start the campaign will begin at 3rd level. Should a player join the campaign later, the level they start at will be based on the average of what the rest of the party has achieved. Players are requested to keep their race and class fairly standard and not overly exotic. Please bear in mind that this game takes place in the Forgotten Realms world. That means races, classes, and deities not found in the FR campaign universe are disallowed without discussion. Players MUST create a character that can easily co-exist with an adventuring party. Characters that can't work well within a party framework won't be part of the campaign for long. Character creation is used via standard 2nd edition. Do not use the Skills and Powers character creation rules.
A session is slated to run on Saturdays from 2PM until at least 5PM. We can go later. I am not fussy. Majority decision will decide the day of if we go later than 6PM.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
This campaign will be conducted via Discord. Thus, players will be required to have a working microphone so that they can readily communicate with the other players and the DM. Additionally, players must also be willing and able to work with the rest of the players in a mature fashion. Players who go out of their way to be a disruptive presence will be removed from the campaign. That doesn't mean fun and shenanigans can't happen. It means a player's fun cannot be at the expense of another's.
What JP McClendon brings to the table
For players that don't already have the materials, I do, including copies of blank character sheets. For some rules, I will be strictly sticking to their write-up. For others, I am flexible if I think there is a bit of wiggle room. As for my DM style, major NPCs tend to have their own voice, even if I am not putting on a voice.
Homebrew rules
There are numerous homebrew rules designed to benefit the players. The list isn't short, so it would be best to just go over them during character creation.

Virtually all listed triggers are potential. Just because a posted trigger is shown on the list does not a guarantee that it will ever actually come up, but the fact that it is possible that it might is why I have listed it. Obviously, my intention is never to upset, offend, or trigger anyone, either on purpose or accidental. I request that should something ever come up, that a player let it be known on the spot rather than waiting to tell me after a session. A player's comfort with the game is a priority to me.
