About the adventure

Homebrew world, homebrew builds: The desert fantasy world of Solrune calls unique heroes to action. Bring your (playtested) third-party published classes and subclasses, or your most unique character concepts based in the core rules. Adventurers attuned to desert survival, one/many of the 4 elements, or a general knack for bounty hunting monsters are the most common in Solrune, but any feature or option based in the core rules is allowed. Sandbox goals: While the campaign will begin action-packed, the heroes' foes and adventures will be determined by their decisions and research. The heroes' main priorities become the "main quest", with unique rewards and magic items granted to characters for achieving their personal goals. We will discuss in session 0 how to tie the characters into the world, likely by exploring the many factions found in the desert. Heroic combat: The heroes' combat prowess will have the spotlight and be put to the test. Most gametime will be spent either in combat, in a dangerous dungeon, or exploring towards conflict in the outdoors. Social/roleplay scenes will be found, but in smaller doses. Characters are more encouraged to express themselves through their combat abilities and adventuring methodology rather than conversational personality. The desert world of Solrune is the common ground of the extraplanar opposed agendas of the four elements. Mortals, faced with the harsh reality of surviving sandstorms, often learn to worship or evoke the natural elements. Non-spellcasting adventurers can find their riches hunting vaults from the ancient past or slaying the interdimensional elemental monsters sent from other worlds. In this level 3-8 campaign, you can expect to level up somewhat quickly: This allows the entire group to experience a rapidly escalating campaign in a controlled, concise number of sessions appropriate for an online game. We will play on the first and third Mondays of each month. The campaign will last from levels 3-8 and follow a common throughline that culminates in a grand setpiece battle. However, gameplay happens in adventures. Adventures are digestible 2-3 session arcs that typically have encapsulated settings, antagonistic forces, character plot beats, conclusions, and consequences. This will make it easy to jump in and out of the campaign at the internet's convenience.

How to prepare

You will need a mic and an understanding of how to access FoundryVTT through web browser and Discord.

What I provide

I will bring FoundryVTT and character creation tools using both official and third-party published options through that platform. I will focus on using FoundryVTT's feature set to deliver a rich tactical combat experience, and a world that takes using all of your non-combat features, capabilities, and cunning to completely explore. I generally stick to the rules as written in order to deliver a combat experience as fulfilling as possible, but I do sometimes use rule of cool when a character performs an act that strongly resonates with the concept and ethos of their character.

Gameplay details

We will discuss how to use X, N, & O's during session 0.
