About the adventure
“War. War never changes. In the centuries following the aftermath of the Sino-American War, mankind found itself with the unenviable task of trying to survive in a harsh, nuclear world. Radioactive monsters of all stripes took over the wastes as raiders sought out the weak and helpless for resources and sport. After eons of progress and innovation, the truth of man’s soul had been stripped bare for all the universe to see, and for many it was a gristly and dark sight. But within that darkness lied the light of an ember that had withstood the nuclear winter and kept humanity warm during the darkest of times. That ember was mankind’s capacity for heroics; their ability to stare death and defeat in the eye and force it to blink through nothing but sheer force of will. The American Wasteland does not want for monsters and villainy, but neither is it lacking for those willing to take a stand.

About me
I'm a semi-professional person and all around were-adult who likes to run TTRPG to satisfy both my compulsive need to please people and my aversion to real life problems I can't control. I've been running games long enough to know that if your game doesn't at least partially run off of Air Bud "the rulebook doesn't say that a dog CAN'T play basketball"-style logic then you need a new game. On a more productive note I will say this; I enjoy creating a fun space for players to tackle challenges and tell stories, and that means gamers from across the spectrum. Racists, TERFs, and other various bigots will find my table about as welcoming as a kick to the genitals, and I have no problem turning down or returning money to drive that point home. As for game systems, I currently enjoy running/homebrewing D&D 5e, though I have run other systems before (Start Wars Saga Edition, Mutants & Masterminds, the Dragon Age ttrpg, Pathfinder 1e and VTM) and am willing to be flexible. Rules lawyers and power gamers will find themselves in an esoteric clusterfuck of a campaign from which they will not be able to escape unharmed. If you'd like a taste of my DM-ing style, checkout my D&D podcast/dumpster fire Disasters & Dragons (link below). Creating your character
The first three to five sessions players will be using pre-generated robotic characters that are searching for the wasteland vigilante the Machinist. The reason for this is two-fold; one, it allows the players to learn core aspects of gameplay (attacking, skills, etc.) without having to worry about the larger survival aspects that comes from playing with organic characters. The second reason is so that that players can be introduced to the setting and have time to think of a character that they want to play as that fits in the Cin-City setting, though if they want they can keep playing as robots if they want. The players will have character sheets on roll20, and be invited to a Discord server where they can keep track of things and communicate with myself and the other players out of session.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Having a free Discord, Roll20, and Zoom account will help players immensely.
What Daniel brings to the table
I will be using a mixture of Discord, Roll20, Youtube (for music), and Zoom for the mechanics of the games combat. As for the in game rules and the application of them, the great thing about the 2d20 system, especially its Fallout variant is that it has something I like to call "buy in crunch". I can in fact be a crunchy game, but abstaining from some of the more intricate mechanics like crafting and survival does not affect the system overall. I as a general rule tend to focus more on narrative than combat, or I at least believe that combat should have stakes and make sense I the context of said narrative, so players worrying about a 'rules as written' approach need not worry.

How Daniel creates a safe table
Cin-City Stories: A Fallout Campaign will utilize the Monte Cook RPG Consent Checklist as a safety tool for this campaign. I will also be using Discord messaging as a way for players to communicate concerns to me.
