About the adventure

Welcome to the North America Faewilds! The year is 1876, and life is weird in the city of Santa Fae, New Mexico. The Four Corners Region of the United States has been merged with the faewilds of myth, but as hardy pioneers, life has gone on. Fae, humans, and other mythical species and creatures coexist, usually peacefully, within this region. Great iron tracks separate the Fae courts and define the major trade routes in the area. You play as fixers, folks who hunt monsters, investigate strange happenings, and even solve some crimes. Make a name for yourself by working for various towns, factions and companies to make life better (or a little worse), in this homebrewed, Monster of Week setting. The first session will be a session 0 where players will finish up character creation, set up how they know each other, and do a short intro session. Game Description: Take jobs from official fixer boards, town offices, or even just regular folks to earn money to make you and your band a real fixer company. What jobs you take will affect the world around you and influence future offers from the various NPCs. Learn more about your world and carve out your own experience by exploring, taking jobs, and working on side projects during downtime periods, similar to what people might do in Blades in the Dark. This game is beginner friendly, I am more than happy to help with all aspects of character creation, how to play the game, and learning the rules as we go, so that everyone has a good experience playing. This game will gave a good mix of roleplaying, puzzle solving, and combat as you unravel the mysteries of this fantastic land.

About me

I'm a graduate student who's been playing D&D, Pathfinder, and other roleplaying games for more than a decade! I'm interested in running campaigns, drop in drop out games, and beginner friendly sessions so that there is a game for everyone! I run campaigns in Monster of the Week, Fallout RPG, and D&D 5e, and I can run campaigns in Pathfinder 1e, Starfinder, and more! Art for my profile picture found on Reddit!

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will start at level 1, and will be created during Session 0 of the game. I will provide the free monster of the week fillable form for players to use, as well as a quick guide for their actions and how parts of the game work. Players will be responsible for keeping their sheets and updating them as we play, but I will be explaining rules and going over how they would need to update them as we go.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Having a mic is a must for this campaign, and they should either have dice or an online way of rolling them. Discord will be needed to play the campaign, as that is where I will be hosting all sessions. While not necessary, having a way to save a pdf and a place to take either digital or physical notes is important.

What Jeremy brings to the table

I will bring rulebooks, homebrewed documents like job descriptions, and in some cases, images that will be posted in the discord set up for sessions in order to let players have a better idea of what is going on in the world. I will also have dice I will use to run the games.

Homebrew rules

I use a downtime system adapted from Blades in the Dark! Between sessions, players get two downtime rolls to pursue projects that you might not be able to pursue in the main game. Build gadgets, make a name for yourself outside of being a Fixer, or even get some extra training to enhance your experience! I also utilize the Tome of Mysteries "Investigate a Mystery" Rule, allowing players ask questions, with a full success leading to two general questions or a specific question answered truthfully, a mixed success getting one general question answered truthfully, and a failure getting a general question answered, but not necessarily with the truth.

Safety

How Jeremy creates a safe table

As this is a monster of the week game, there will be things like violence, blood, and death that happen both to players and NPCs in the game. Hostages might be taken by vampires or an evil company for the players to save, but nothing extreme will happen to them. I will avoid graphic descriptions of things like bodies, opting to say things like "the scene was gruesome, it looked like an animal attack", rather than get into extreme details, especially with younger parties. I will be using a Session 0 to establish the Lines and Veils Document, which will be put into a public Discord for party members to access and update as needed. Additionally, we will use verbal X, N, and O cards in game to allow players to opt out if they need to. In order to allow players to drop out if you need a second to process, I will ask that they send a direct message to let me know they have left or verbally tell me they need a pause so that we can make sure everyone is comfortable. A brief 5-minute debrief will take place at the end of a session to both check in with players and to find out how I will improve as a GM.
