About the adventure
As a GM and player, I adore the Starfinder setting and it's blend of space opera and fantasy. When I watch movies like Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor: Ragnarok, I start dreaming of running those sorts of campaigns in the Starfinder setting. Sadly, I was never a huge fan of the ruleset for first edition Starfinder, and so I haven't played it nearly as much as I'd like to. Pathfinder 2e, on the other hand, I love - it's dynamic, character builds are exciting, and combat encounters are easier to balance. When it was announced that Starfinder 2e was coming, and would be compatible with PF2e, I knew I wanted to get in from the beginning. This game will use the playtest rulebook (which should be releasing on August 1st), and eventually port over to the full release version if it lasts long enough. As for the kind of story I want to tell in the Starfinder setting, I will be drawing inspirations from some of my favorite space-based IPs: Firefly (outlaws with a ship), Guardians of the Galaxy (exciting set piece encounters and over-the-top villains), and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (a bit on the sillier side, perhaps even absurd at times). We will be starting with some of the premade playtest adventures, including A Cosmic Birthday, where you will witness the birth of the latest deity to join the setting's pantheon! How to prepare
You will need the equipment to take part in a voice chat over Discord, and a PC/Mac/Chromebook (...or any other computing device that you can join my Foundry server from in a web browser).
What I provide
I plan on using Foundry VTT unless another VTT has superior implementation of the Starfinder playtest. I will be sourcing maps to use for any "action" scenes as well as images to help set the mood for "theatre of the mind" scenes. I'm no voice actor, but like to think I have a handful of voices in my repertoire, enough to let the important NPCs be distinct. I'm ambivalent when it comes to ambient music and sound effects personally, but if the players enjoy it, I'm happy to include it. I'm fairly familiar with the rules for Pathfinder 2e, and would like to stick to the rules as much as possible while playtesting to ensure we get the proper Starfinder 2e experience (and can give better feedback based on it). However, I don't like dragging games to a halt searching for rules mid-session - if I can find it in a minute or so, then I will, but if it takes longer, I'm happy to make a ruling (skewing towards rule of cool in the moment) and then research the rules between sessions. Finally, I want to make it clear that my games are all friendly to beginners as well as being LGBTQ+ friendly and inclusive. I want to ensure everyone who wants to play will have the best possible time.
Gameplay details
When you join, you will receive a link to the RPG Consent Checklist to fill out ahead of session 0. At session 0, I'll go over any red/yellow areas, talk about the themes, and to what degree (if any) I was planning on using them in the campaign, whether or not they are acceptable off-screen, and so on.
