About the adventure
Phandalin, a rugged frontier town on the Sword Coast, now lies under the shadow of a dragon. Once a place of toil and quiet courage, the region has become a battleground. Orc and goblin clans, along with other creatures who have long kept to the mountains and beneath the earth, have seemingly become emboldened by the chaos and now strike out without mercy. All the while mercenaries, bandits, and other dangerous elements stalk the land seeking fortune and other, more sinister goals in the wake of fear and uncertainty. The people endure, but their hope dwindles. The fate of Phandalin, and innocents across the Sword Coast, rests in your hands. _______________________________________________________________________ Players in this campaign will work together to defend Phandalin from the threat of a dragon and confront the chaos its arrival has brought upon the Sword Coast. Dragon of Icespire Peak is a classic D&D 5e adventure module that provides a sandbox experience, which allows the story to be deeply shaped and expanded by player choices — and also provides a lot of room for customizability in terms of exploration, sidequests, and storylines that I'll homebrew based on what players do with their characters and story decisions. It can also easily expand into several other published D&D 5e modules, which would allow players to continue to higher levels following its conclusion.

About me
Hello adventurers! My name is Squint and I've been playing D&D for four years, two of them as an in-person DM. I decided to take my DMing online because I had a great DM in my first online campaign as a player which really helped me develop a love for D&D — and I want to be able to do that for someone else! I especially enjoy emphasizing the social aspect of D&D. I believe the game is at its best when players engage with each other in character by sharing ideas, making plans, and collaborating to build a vibrant and exciting world together. I encourage players to engage in small talk and work together in character to make meaningful decisions that shape the world they inhabit. For me, the most rewarding moments in D&D come from the connections forged by creating a story that is unique to the people on the board.

Creating your character
Players will create Level 1 characters on D&D Beyond either before or during Session 0 - All characters begin with a free starting feat - All official D&D content permitted, and I'm more than happy to take a look at any homebrew you may be interested in using
Current Party Composition: Cleric, Ranger, Warlock Current Party Level: 4
What to expect
Preparing for the session
- Discord account for voice / video chat (video is optional, but encouraged!) - D&D Beyond account for character creation and management - A laptop or desktop computer (Foundry VTT unfortunately doesn't work on phones and ~most~ tablets) - Microphone (built-in laptop mics work just fine)
What SqntEastwood brings to the table
I offer a virtual tabletop experience that includes elements such as music, NPC voice acting, and premium maps and assets from creators I subscribe to or created myself. In terms of DM style, I stick to the philosophy of "Rule of Cool, as long as it doesn't break the game." That means that if a player wants to do something that isn't quite "Rules as Written" I'll work with them to make it happen, unless there's just no way to do it without breaking the game (in which case, we'll work collaboratively to see what we can make happen!)
Homebrew rules
These rules will be discusses further during Session 0: - When using 2014 rules, all characters get a free starting feat - Crits are full base damage + rolled crit damage - Drinking a potion is a bonus action - Switching between weapons does not cost any type of action, unless switching from melee to ranged or vice versa - To perform the Help Action during roleplay and exploration, a character must have proficiency in the stat, or the stat related to the skill, that they are helping with
