Blood & Other Drugs

Blood & Other Drugs

Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition | Campaign

About the adventure

Toronto’s Masquerade is cracking. "Daywalker" thin-bloods push the limits of blood alchemy, crafting new powers and breaking old rules, while Path of the Sun Sabbat zealots unleash a brutal crusade to scour the city clean. The streets are a crucible for the forgotten and the desperate. In Blood and Other Drugs, your coterie must adapt, invent, and fight together to survive. Hold your ground, trust your own, and decide what, or who, you're willing to sacrifice.

Game style

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

Theater of the Mind

“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

How to prepare

You will need a webcam and a microphone, and I recommend using a PC or laptop so that you can best utilize the character sheets and maps/handouts. However, I have used a tablet successfully; a phone will not be sufficient.

What I provide

We will play via Discord voice & video chat, and utilizing the Alchemy VTT for character sheets, maps, and the rest. My style as Storyteller is very character-driven and responsive: I do not have a set outcome for the campaign, and I prepare situations for your characters to respond to. I also rarely present situations with clear good/bad outcomes: in many cases what is important is what trade-offs your character is willing to risk or accept. I generally do not utilize dynamic maps or audio, nor do I do special character voices. Combat, when it happens, occurs as part of the narrative and is generally theatre of the mind.

Gameplay details

In our free session zero we will zero in on what elements we specifically want to include, what we want to exclude, and what we want to tread lightly around. Players and the GM have a right to change their mind, so our lines & veils is a living document that will be adjusted as necessary throughout the campaign. During sessions players will be encouraged to signal green (encouraging), yellow (warning) and red (stop) to indicate ongoing consent or to raise flags if there is an unexpected issue that requires discussion or adjustment.
