Game style
Rules as Written (RaW)
Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.
A friendly group, which includes a Monk, Druid, Rogue and a Bard.

Creativity
I enjoyed my first introductory game at SPG with Allison. She is professional and welcoming. She encouraged my first attempts at role playing, helped me with mechanics (and the why of things), and even challenged my expectations about encounters. It really is a gift to come out of an experience feeling supported and wanting more.

How to prepare
Computer and Internet required. High speed internet will make for a more enjoyable experience. Mic and headphones required (speakers cause echo). Set up free accounts on Roll20 and Discord. Recommend Chrome or Firefox browser for Roll20. Install free Discord app on computer. Join Ajax D&D server. Meet the group in your own designated group channels, and chat with other players in shared channels. Paid Session 0 required prior to game session. If you miss the group Session 0, please message Ajax DM to arrange for a 1-on-1 Session 0 once you join the game. It's your chance to let me know what you would enjoy (and would not enjoy), and an opportunity to learn about me as a DM, safety tools, table rules, the environment we'll be in and we can talk about your character ideas and how you're connected to the story. You can roll up a character and we'll get you set up. Ajax DM has hundreds of character tokens available. Either send your token image to Ajax DM or select one from the Ajax DM collection. If your character will require a familiar or Wild Shape forms or is able to Summon creatures, please alert Ajax DM well before the game as we'll need to set up character sheets for these.
What I provide
Ajax DM uses official D&D 5e campaign materials from Wizards of the Coast, Kobold Press, Free League, and others, supplemented with additional maps, premium licensed music and sound effects, 3D dice-rolling, Dynamic Lighting (revealing maps as you explore), scripts to automate manual tasks, purchased tokens, sourcebook/compendium sharing as a Pro in Roll20. We use cinematic animated visuals with custom audio on Alchemy RPG. Sourcebooks in D&D Beyond. We use Discord for audio and each group gets its own channels to hang out, share notes, and start conversations between games.
Gameplay details
We'll have a table rules and safety discussion as part of the group Session 0 or in a private 1-on-1. This is a welcoming table and we expect respect and kindness for all. Rape and Sexual Assault will not be part of our game. No homebrew characters. There are no evil characters, "neutral" characters that are veiled evil characters, no emo loners who don't trust others. Remember, you are heroes.

How will character creation work
Please wait to make a character until we've had a Session 0. If you join after the group's Session 0 you'll need to schedule a separate (paid) 1-on-1 with Ajax DM so we can get to know one another, cover table rules, safety tools, the campaign environment, and discuss character options. Characters will enter at the same level as the rest of the party. Launch Roll20 game. To make a character, roll for stats in chat (4d6 drop the lowest x 6). You may opt for Standard Array if you dislike your rolls. If you join after the group's Session 0, you can build your character in Roll20 (+ D&D Beyond if desired) using the Charactermancer, before the game. Please allow time for the DM to review your character before the game (24 hours). Include at least 2 paragraphs of background story with at least one named person in their story. Characters should get along with others. There are no evil characters, "neutral" characters that are veiled evil characters, no emo loners who don't trust others. Fill in physical description and personality traits, ideals, bonds and flaws. Please do not choose the "do not trust others" trait. No evil characters. If using D&D Beyond character sheet, you still need to roll for and use ability score rolls from Roll20 chat.
