About the adventure
Icewind Dale, the frigid north of the world, has become more frigid still in recent years- the summer growing shorter and shorter, until now -at last- it has not come at all. Something is wrong with Auril, goddess of winter, and you- perhaps visitor, perhaps resident- are caught up in the middle of this, as chaos spreads, and the secrets of this land begin to be lost forever, beneath the ice... ----------------------------------------------------- This campaign is all about isolation and mystery. In the earlygame, the focus is on the towns of ❄️Icewind Dale❄️; fearful and alone, as threats grow both within and without. Later, it shifts to matters ancient, divine, and mysterous: of 🪼horrors eldritch🪼, worlds forgotten, and the nature of gods and man Spiraling from survival and exploration into eldritch horror and epic adventure, this homebrew take on Rime of the Frostmaiden forces you to race against the oncoming winter to save both Icewind Dale and your sanity, before it's too late...

Ellery is an experienced GM and has been playing and GMing tabletop games for many many years. They are very understanding and thorough when you have any questions and concerns during the lead up to, playing, and after done playing, a campaign and session. They are wonderful at helping you to prep for a campaign (including what to expect, help with your character, clarifying rules, etc.) and they helped me despite the fact that I missed the Session 0 and the start of the campaign was only a few days away. Their campaigns (from what I've played so far) seem very tried and tested and tend to have lots of great adjustments from the DnD source materials that WotC provides. Instead of cut-and-paste straight from the book Ellery provides lots of great added mechanics and details to the campaign that are very helpful and they are always upfront about what they change and why. Great DM to have, especially for first time or returning players, as they lay everything out on the table and answer any questions, concerns and quires a player may have about a campaign or the mechanics and rules of DnD in general.

Gameplay details
Although Icewind dale will have its fair share of goofy moments and zany characters, a central part of its theming is things like eldritch horror and difficult moral choices. Because of this, a crucial part of the session zero process will be discussing triggers and content warnings to ensure everyone is as comfortable as possible! I will also regularly check in, to make sure everyone is having as much fun as possible!

How will character creation work
The free session zero will cover everything about character creation, although eager players are welcome to get a head start! ----------------------------------------------------- ⚔️ Campaign starts at level 3 📖 All official WotC races, classes, and backgrounds are allowed 💪 A generous custom array for ability scores. 🛡️Starting equipment from main class and background 👍Multiclassing encouraged with a free level 🪶Most homebrew allowed, as long as you clear it with me first! ----------------------------------------------------- This campaign is NEW PLAYER friendly, and I offer simple pre-generated characters for anyone overwhelmed by character creation.
