This world can be so beautiful, yet so ugly depending on how you look at it. I learned to see beauty, and I choose to always see beauty in everything and everyone. I wish everyone could see it like I do, so they wouldn't be so bent on destroying it. On hurting each other. Life was easier when defeating evil meant punching bad guys in the face. Right now, that's not the evil we need to fight. We need to fight the little evil that grows inside everyone. That takes up too much space when their good side is not being nourished. If every single person could see the heroes inside themselves... maybe this world wouldn't need Archim to look after it. »»———- ———-«« In a world without hope, souls grow heavy - and they sink. The setting of Inferno is an alternate history world where the Cold War simmers on, where the end of history could never be declared and the bleak possibility of mutually assured annihilation is just a fact of life. Technology has accelerated in many fields, be it cybernetics, genetics, material design or... propaganda. Ideologies of madmen poison the minds of the people more efficiently, with no one ever knowing truth, be they a opportunistic apparatchik, a cyborg conscript or an idealistic true believer. View this world through the eyes of the Archim: divine authority, living embodiment of good. Or, if you prefer, as a humble mortal: free agents constrained by multinational companies, with a capacity for both great compassion and great cruelty. Down on the surface: secret is law, morality is mystery and reality is a liar. Unseen forces conspire against you, hidden in places you cannot find. Those Defiled by Hell have strengthened their grip on society, polar opposites of the staunch defenders of good. About me
Light be with you, wanderer. I've always held a love for writing, drawing, and composing - and it just so happened that my method of honing these skills has been running RPGs for well over a decade. (besides level design & the occasional video game!) Roleplaying comes in such a variety of forms that it can be reductive to perceive it as a single phenomenon. My personal fascination lies with games that not only entertain, but also provide food for thought and encourage the player to engage with the dilemmas on display. To me, the game is a dialogue between myself and the players, and each player is a co-author. The most important thing is to let the players genuinely influence the story and to match their desires: so that we may witness their growth as protagonists who overcome peril and lead the campaign toward unexpected results. Set the stage, define the laws of the world, introduce the problem, and point out how its core connects with everyday reality. The players are given a vital role of their own, completing the act by virtue of their unique interpretations. You're more than just a tiny grain of sand. The whole sandbox, it's all of you!

Creating your character
Characters shall be created in collaboration, sharing ideas to define existing relationships and place them in the setting. If you've got a wild concept you'd always wanted to try, then go for it. Sum To Ten will be used for chargen, which is a more flexible variant of the Priority system. There'll be 11 Points to assign and a custom Metatype if you intend to play as an Archim or something else; the fallen, outsiders marked by Phobos, well intentioned demons... Discussion with your fellow players will be preferable for any outliers, but nothing is inherently off-limits. Concurrent stories, conflicting motivations and worldviews have plenty potential to spice up our game.
LGBTQ+, we stay proud in here. You can expect no less than 2-3 daily, detailed posts from the GM, with illustrations, music, and steady progress through each scene. I tend to get into it and post way more. Shadowrun might look really intimidating, but it's easier than you'd expect to pen up a character via Chummer. Gameplay'll be inherently simplified due to our RP-centric PbP approach (though there'll be plenty of tactics!), we'll walk you through everything if you're a newcomer.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
The only thing you'll need to play is Discord. I'll gladly walk you through the rules and character creation if you're new to Shadowrun, and certain aspects will be streamlined to make things run smoothly in PbP. What Arto brings to the table
We'll have backgrounds, character illustrations, and 3D Scene perspectives accompanying the narration, all joined by a detailed and evolving soundtrack. That includes art and music I've created myself. You'll have access to the complete collection of Shadowrun 5e rules, and I'll be fully invested in seeing your concept come to fruition: the advantage of a PbP game is that we can be reasonably asymmetrical and explore all facets of our game world!

How Arto creates a safe table
Cyberpunk offers a platform to discuss gritty real-life themes and human complexities. Heavy topics and conflicts of ideology play a central part in the game wherever you go, but I have no intention of disempowering the players or getting all nihilistic in a bleak setting. Choice is paramount both in-game and in the content you're comfortable exploring. Pacifist approaches are viable. This may seem like a cold, uncaring world at first, but it's a world that you can actively change through your actions - with genuine alliances and friendships that may be forged throughout the struggle.
