About the adventure
You are invited to a lecture by a rich academic; he needs your help. However, this request spirals out of control. You learn of a powerful statue: The Sedefkar Simulacrum. While your info is scarce, you know, someone needs to do something. Thus you set off onto the Orient Express, ready to brave the unknown horrors of the 1920s! Will you be able to recover the powerful magic that haunts the world or will succumb to the Horrors on the Orient Express? Call Of Cthulhu's Gameplay is Defined By: 1. Investigative Horror 😱. Call of Cthulhu (CoC) gameplay revolves around uncovering mysteries and fighting against the terrors of the night. You play as ordinary people who are challenged by horrific and extraordinary odds both mystical and terrifying. 2. Skill Based 🌌. Whereas in DnD, you choose classes, Call of Cthulhu is a skill based game. You have several skills your Investigator is good and bad due to their age, occupation, and training. 3. Deadly Combat🧟♂️. Call of Cthulhu is an investigation game, but combat is inevitable when battling either the mundane or alien like mythos. That means this is a heavy roleplay game where players need to work together to uncover secrets and fend against fiend.
Game style
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
This game is currently ongoing. If you are joining, you will be required to have an onboarding interview/ paid Session 0. This is required prior to approval to join the table. I will be more than happy to work with your schedule accordingly and should last a hour and 30 minutes at most. You will not play if you join and have not scheduled that interview with me.

Gameplay details
Before The Game: Session 0 📝 Code of Conduct at my Table I believe as a Queer Black GM, safety at my table is and will always be a number 1 priority. RPGs should allow us to safely explore topics we want and have fun with it. So that means this table and my groups are anti-racist, anti-queerphobic, and tolerating bigotry is entirely unacceptable. So any kind of behavior like that will result in immediate ejection from my game. Lines, Veils, and Boundaries 🪞 I use a set of primer topics to discuss what we do not want to see in the game. A sample of that is attached below https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TVfQ1_UyP7EyTUi6zK3FFvfFvucZRjaDHHFAoBmvhxM/edit During my Game: Breaks🧱 I always make sure to include a 10+ minute break in my game. Of course breaks can be longer or shorter depending on what is best for the group at the time. After the Game: Stars and Wishes ✨ Post game and especially at the end of the campaign, I ask what are people’s stars and wishes. Stars are used for things people really liked during the game. Wishes are things participants would like to see in the future.

How will character creation work
We will have character creation prior to the session. Since this is a campaign, I want to make sure everyone's characters are created together and we have a clear motive. Future players who join after session 0, we can work your character into the narrative!
