About the adventure

“Waterdeep has always been a hive of secrets, you can’t throw a stone without hitting a conspiracy or two. It’s littered with secret passages, hidden cults, lost legends and even a few divine mysteries to boot. You want to try and take a crack at solving crimes in this mess? Go ahead, I imagine you're going to be very busy” - A secret snake cultist, posing as a tour guide. Waterdeep Detectives is a series of adventures set in the city of Waterdeep, taking characters from level 3 up to level 9, occurring as political upheaval grips the city's streets. Characters will be playing the role of private detectives, looking to bring criminals to justice, dealing with their personal lives and stories, all while trying to solve the strange cases throughout the city. Explore life in the City of Splendor, go where you please and be immersed in the daily life of Waterdeep and its strange and quirky populace.

How to prepare

All you’ll need to join the game is a mic, a Discord account and the ability to access Foundry.

What I provide

I will be providing all official races, classes and spells setup in my Foundry world for quick character creation. I’ll also be providing my pixel avatar setup, for each player I'll setup a custom pixel character built for the game. Each of the adventures included with this campaign come with their own custom maps, npc's, and encounters built by me. There will also be music and plenty of drama, with a dash of jazz for that noir feeling.

Gameplay details

The first session is free, in addition to a free 0 session to go over the game in more detail, and cover character creation and your interests. The game is set around being private detectives with your own office, where you can accept cases, follow up rumors or even begin your own investigations. Making sure the game and its direction is comfortable for everyone is important to me, so we will have discussions before and after each major case about what we are happy with and what we want to explore more. I also have the X card system setup for the game, so if we ever encounter a situation someone is uncomfortable with you can raise the card anonymously and I'll step in to resolve the issue.

How will character creation work

Character creation can be done on either D&D Beyond or my Foundry world. Characters start at level 3, standard point buy, with basic starting equipment.
