Rise of the Giants

Rise of the Giants

Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign

About the adventure

The Wasted West was once the home of the Great Magocracies of Midgard. When those great cities destroyed themselves through warfare and hubris the landscape was changed irreparably. No longer a thriving wilderness, the west had become a magical wasteland. Acidic fog, legions of undead, mutations that defy imagination...and worse. When the wars were over dust goblins and gnolls began to roam the wastes as raiding parties. Humans hung on where they could, building villages near untainted water sources. The giants, however, were broken during the wars. They had been slaves to the Magocracies, losing a sense of themselves and their culture. When the wars ended they found themselves with no leadership and no culture to fall back on. And in a very real fashion they found themselves haunted by the spirits of their ancestors. The giants walk through their lives almost like zombies as the spirits of their ancestors sap the life from them. Recently, however, hill giant raiding parties have harried human villages and rumors are circulating that the stone giants are attempting to re-learn the Old Ways. What has caused this change in giant behavior? Will it cause havoc and destruction, or will the giants help bring order to the chaos of the Wasted West?

What can I say this is one of the better DMs in the game! He nails it with almost no low points and keeps the story exciting and focused. For someone who has atention Deficit, I am never bored whatsoever. He leaves you so much to think about between. I cannot wait for gameday with him. Great sense of humour, Great balance, very challenging fights. total Rule of Cool guy, prepared, good voices. I love this guy!!! Challenging!!!!! His battles are tough when they need to be! IF you love combat with some decent roleplay with no dull moments and great, great plots that can go many ways. THis is your man all the way. Ive played for 35 years dnd, he could put on a clinic to other Dms to show how it should be done!

Drew is a great DM who's quick thinking when it comes to PC creativity and knows the systems of both 5e and roll20 very well. Outside the game, he's been amicable with reschedule requests and is always great at communicating. All in all a 10/10 experience

Additional details

How to prepare

Players will need a working microphone, a free Roll20 account, and a Discord account. A basic idea of both the rules of D&D and how to use Roll20 is useful, but not needed. The basics can be covered in Session 0.

What I provide

I will provide my players with - Access to the PHB, XGE,TCE, and MotM, in addition players will have access to dozens of new races and sub-classes from the Midgard Heroes Handbook, Tome of Heroes, and Southlands Players Guide. Dynamically lit maps that are backed by soundtracks. Detailed session notes provided after every session. More than 35 years of experience as a Dungeon Master.

Gameplay details

Players can feel free to interrupt the game at any time in order to discuss a situation that makes them uncomfortable that hasn't been covered in the Content Warnings. Beyond that I will happily discuss any other issues away from the game. Session 0 will cover character creation and group culture (agreed upon rules within our group). We will also spend time going over the basic controls of Roll20 and the character sheets for those that need it. Character creation will use the Charactermancer on Roll20. Standard Array will be used for all characters.
