About the adventure

One of the biggest drags of TTRPGs has always been the difficulty of scheduling or the waiting until the next session after being left on a cliffhanger. Luckily with this campaign you can respond on your own time, at your own length, throughout the day! You'll get access to my Discord server and private channel for roleplaying. There will be references for the towns we explore and updated lore logs, as well as maps and images provided regularly. In this channel, there is also areas provided for characters to build relationships with one another outside of the "set" storyline and gameplay. As the game goes, there will be a new monster or horror to deal with; these will vary from your classic vampires and werewolves to more sci-fi archetypes with aliens and fantasy mind flayers. Your job will be to work together to figure out what the monster is and how to stop it! For those unfamiliar with MOTW, monsters have weaknesses that must be exploited. You'll get a chance to talk to Bystanders and Witnesses to learn as much as you can and also do research around the town; these NPCs will have pictures provided in the Discord! Research always depends on the rolls and questions asked. In the Discord, there are several bots as well to help with administrative needs! These guys can also roll dice for you and help out with the game. [LGBTQ+/POC welcome and encouraged!!!]

Recruiting notes

Join Keeper Urvy Fitz as they take you to the haunted town of Bitterridge, NC, where anomalies appear regularly! Each week a ragtag gang of mundane heroes and ambitious investigators must figure out what's turning this small town upside down, whether it be wild murderers or faith changing aberrations! In this game not only will your critical thinking, Who-Dun-Did-It? skills be tested, so will your descriptive talents. At Urvy's table, roleplaying and details are a high priority, to help weave together an exciting tale. All experience levels are welcome, as Monster of the Week is a fairly easy game to catch on with. It's wild to think that 2d6s can change your whole story. Running,, Running Scared is an episodic campaign with an overarching plot and theme that comes together piece by piece, session by session. Each week will be a new Monster, with every day progress in moving the story along; each day and a countdown passes and a new event occurs. Scheduling wise the week runs Monday - Sunday, resetting at the start of each week; Friday is for payment processing.

How to prepare

I recommend having a basic understanding of how Monster of the Week works, just a quick lookover of the rules and your character's playbook. However , referencing to materials and rules is definitely a-okay; the Internet can surely be our friend! You will need to have access to Discord in order to be a part of the server and appropriate channels. A Google Drive account is also neat, because sometimes I'll send documents and slides from there, but not necessary as they are accessible without an account! All pictures will be posted to the Discord. For Session Zero a microphone will be required for initial discussions of characters; afterwards all that's needed is consistent posting!

What I provide

In the Discord, we have dice rolling bots that I encourage you to use; however I do appreciate the feeling of dice rattling around in my hands so I understand if you want to use a physical pair as well. There is also a bot set up where you can set up a separate profile for your character, for ease of posting/lack of confusion between ICC/OOC. I will provide maps as well as general location descriptions. Other imagery will be available as well-- for monsters and NPCs alike!

Gameplay details

You'll get access to my Discord server and private channel for roleplaying. In the Discord, there are several bots as well to help with administrative needs! I also have moderators in my chats available as needed. These bots can also roll dice for you and help out with the game! I will be providing a Consent Checklist, where you can select Red/Green/Yellow to a wide variety of difficult materials; this'll be used to tailor games to everyone's best experience. I'll also send out a general guideline of posting and what will or will not be tolerated. There is an OOC chat available for out of character discussions and checking in, as well as the remainder of the server. I have an Open Door policy. I'm happy to work out any problems as needed and have years of experience mediating conversations as a manger and friend. Please bring any issues you might be having with the campaign to me, so we can work them out before leaving, I want to make it work for everyone! One other resource I provide is Debriefing and Notes; I will do weekly recaps on the team's shenanigans, both with the monsters but also interpersonally, so that it can be briefly summarized and easily referenced.

How will character creation work

I will schedule a Session Zero for everyone to meet up originally and introduce themselves as well as build characters! This will be the only required voice call; though the option is available for anyone who is interested. Group discussion is a part of character creation, which is why this is required. When coming to the Session Zero, please have two character ideas ready; this way everyone can be flexible with character creation-- there can only be one of any giver archetype! You are *the* Class! I do accept homebrewed types, but please try to send them to me beforehand, that way I can read over and approve.
