    About the adventure

Twilight Champions is a Hero's Tale in a homebrewed low population fantasy setting. The game takes place in the world of Notan - where cold air, cloudy skies, and giant monsters have kept civilizations small and the world largely unexplored. The Lux Coronem, a small Queendom, rules the warmest part of the world (and the part our Twilight Champions will be taking place in). Notan as a whole is a relatively grounded world, while players will not be restricted in character choice things like magical items will be notably rare, and access to NPC healers or NPC mages will be few and far between. The campaign will have a focus on player motivations, backstory integration, and smaller scale Roleplaying moments and character development. These will he supported by an emphasis on exploration, and a selection of smaller plot threads players may choose to pursue, all culminating in a larger slowly unfurling mystery. Players will begin by taking part in the Festival of Twilight, a celebration that is designed for the Queen (or in this case, Crown Princess) to choose new Champions of Twilight - heroes who are celebrated by the people, live relatively comfortable and wealthy lives, and are allowed to work directly with both the Crown and the Coronem Pegasus Knights - an elite group of (primarily) women who defend Noct from various threats. You can expect the beginning of the story to be fairly free form as you take part in the Festival and attempt to curry favor with the two main Princesses that are taking part in the Festival. During this Festival there will be social challenges, fights both deadly and "sparring matches" in which nonlethal means are to be taken, and there are mysteries to uncover and secrets to find as well. The campaign is intended to continue after the Festival, in which the campaign will turn to more greater acts of heroism such as fighting giant monsters and dealing with other dangerous threats - be they political, magical, or something else entirely.

    Additional Details

    How to prepare

A decent (audible without struggling) microphone is required, as is a stable internet connection. You will need to create your own character - I will not have premade characters to provide. I will happily do some of the work if you provide the vision and the guidance - but the decisions must be yours.\ Knowledge of the rules (and familiarity with in general) is not strictly necessary although if you are brand new to the system please let me know so that I may provide the appropriate assistance. You will need a discord account and a Forge account (these are both free and relatively non-intrusive).

    What I provide

In terms of physical/digital things: Foundry VTT (with DnD Beyond Porting/Integration), Homemade maps, Custom Tokens, I have the Players Handbook, Xanathar's, Tasha's, and Sword Coast on DnD Beyond to share if necessary. I have combat and "boss" music, as well as a selection of simple background checks for less intense moments. As for my strengths as a DM, I bring well roleplayed (and decently voiced) NPCs, a reasonable and fleshed out world, decent improvisational skills, and an eagerness to please and make sure everyone is as happy as they can be. I try to make sure everyone gets their chance with the spotlight, and I can help people with their characters when they're feeling lost. I have 13 years of DnD experience, and about 10 as a DM, and even with all that experience I am still open to learning new things and constantly trying to improve. I'm both open to criticism and willing to work with people's specific wants and needs (as long as those don't negatively impact others).

    Gameplay details

There will be a very open and honest discussion in Session 0 about potential content warnings and about player comfort levels with a variety of topics. I will keep a list of notes to reference about this discussion (as well as for newer players afterwards to read and add to/talk about) in my discord. X, N, O's can be messaged directly to me or in any given chat that people have access to. My aftercare will primarily consist of after-session check ins with the group "Did everyone have fun? Anyone need anything?" but specific situations I will also pursue with private messages if I feel like something is amiss. My DMs are also always open for any player concern - safety or otherwise. Although the potential triggers list is relatively long - most of them are not particularly likely to come up, it is simple a list of things that I would feel comfortable potentially using, so if anything is uncomfortable for someone please feel free talking to me about it and I will likely be able to avoid it.

    How will character creation work

Character creation can be handled at Session 0, or I can help guide people at their leisure when they join the game. Stats will be done through standard point buy ( https://chicken-dinner.com/5e/5e-point-buy.html ) Character starting level is going to be 3. Characters can be created in DnD Beyond and imported to Foundry VTT (or, alternatively, they can be made in Foundry - although this is not as automated as doing it in DnD Beyond and isn't really recommended). Any primary source book is fine - although setting-specific content such as the Ravnica books, the Eberron books, or the Critical Role books/content need to be approved beforehand and should be considered off-limits without approval. Unearthed Arcana should be assumed banned (although you may ask, the answer will likely be no) Character backstories are encouraged, although I would like to work with you to incorporate your wanted backstory into the world. This may require some hopefully minor tweaking, but I will do my best to keep to your vision (and I won't assume anything about your character without your approval).

    Players can expect

    • Combat/Tactics: Low
    • Roleplay: High
    • Puzzles: Low
    • Experience Level: Beginner
