Tales of Exandria - The Arms of the Betrayers
The fabled arms of the Betrayers have surfaced during the time of war. What does this mean for Wildemount?
About the adventure
Fear begins to seep into everyday life as the war ramps up in Critical Role’s Wildemount. Factions clash as regular life is halted; the world begins to feel the threat of looming war around the corner. Rumors spread throughout the continent as the warring regions look for any type of resource that can tip the hostile situation in their favor. High-paying missions begin to sprout through the continent, as several power players are looking for any advantage. You find yourself in Talonstadt being drawn into one of the notices, paying one thousand gold to venture into the Ashkeeper Peaks and locate an old magical artifact that can help protect this refugee camp that grows in numbers daily. This adventure leads you on a journey that challenges your character's values, as well as making the players bounce between the warring factions, eventually leading them to take a stance. You will explore many areas of Wildemount, as rumors of several Arms of the Betrayers have begun to surface around WIldemount and you will find yourself caught in the center of the turmoil.

World Builder
Joe is an amazing storyteller who creates amazing homebrew worlds as well as creating campaigns in existing worlds. I am currently playing in 2 of his games and was able to create interesting characters with deep ties to the worlds they live in with Joe's help. Joe is an extremely knowledgeable DM who knows how to bend things to allow players to be creative. Joe nails all the pillars of DnD. His custom maps are beautiful and might have some fun hidden surprises. Exploring and interacting with NPCs is always interesting and rewarding. Roleplay is fun and Joe is good at creating spaces for PCs to get to know each other. He also creates NPCs that feel like they live and breathe in the world and have goals and a life outside of talking to you. Combat runs efficiently and his is very versed in the rules as well as knowing how to help the player if they are trying to do something creative. If you're here reading this review-stop! I've put off writing this review in hopes that bardic inspiration would hit me in real life and I'd find the words to describe my experience in Joe's game. He is so creative and fun, adding special flair into his games. But where I really appreciate him is his ability to so quickly create an environment that feels inclusive and fun for everyone. The games I've joined I join because I need a break from the world and associated stresses. I really look forward to my Thursday nights now, because I know that I'm going to have fun, feel relaxed, and get to play DND in a supportive, creative, and engaging game. Thanks, Joe! (If you're on the fence, give him a try, you won't regret it!)
Character creation
Creating your character
Characters are created before session zero. At session zero, we meet up and discuss what we want from the game and the players as a group or individually. We can set up a time, or you can send over your character once it's complete.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You need a forge Foundry, Discord, and DnD Beyond accounts. Please have a mic and camera is not required but recommended. No need to learn the rules but it would be useful to know your character's abilities. Got a question? Send it over! Get an image to represent your character or use DnD Beyond options!

Gameplay details ♠️ A healthy mix of combat and roleplaying. ♠️ Critical Hits Critical hits cause the damage on the dice to be doubled instead of rolling extra dice ♠️ Critical Failures and Critical Successes If a roll results in a natural 1, it is considered a failure. On the other hand, if the roll is a natural 20, it is always a success. ♠️ Group checks Some checks will require everyone in the group to make a check. The more success, the better the pass. ♠️ Maps are personalized per session High-detailed maps are made per session to ensure the areas are unique and diverse.
