About the adventure
This is an 18+ beginner & LGBTQ+ friendly Twilight: 2000 campaign using the 4th edition from Free League. Twilight: 2000 is a post-apocalyptic tabletop role-playing game set in an alternate history where the Cold War between the United States/NATO and the Soviet Union turned hot. World War III started as a lengthy conventional war but soon escalated into a nuclear conflict with catastrophic outcomes. You are survivors of the war—soldiers and civilians alike—but what kind of survivors will you be? Campaign: Against the Dying of the Light The campaign began in Poland in the spring of the year 2000 in the immediate aftermath of the failure of Operation Reset—the first major offensive by NATO forces in over a year. The order was to link up with other U.S. forces and push your way to the ruins of Warsaw. You weren’t told why. It was a desperate gamble in the most desperate of times. And it all went to hell. The final words from division HQ, before they signed off for good, left little doubt. “Good luck. You’re on your own.” Now, it’s weeks later, and most days are just about making it to the next alive. But a deadly virus of unknown origin ravages the Polish countryside and the remnants of the WHO take brutal measures to stop it. Teams in hazmat suits burn entire villages and neighborhoods of the sick to try to stop the spread of the virus. Local doctors are baffled but they don’t have much modern medical equipment to help. Governments and industries have collapsed. Civil rule has ceased to exist. Food is scarce. People are desperate. Some turn to cannibalism. Others to religious extremism. A mad prophet preaches of a violent, new dawn. His followers call themselves The Shepherd’s Flock. You've seen their victims crucified along roadsides and hanging from overpasses. Modern civilization as you knew it is gone. But what if there could be a way back? To heal the world, to set things right? Rumors by campfires whisper that Operation Reset was something much more than a military offensive. It was a secret plan to reboot the world. Whatever the hell that means. It’s probably a fairy tale, but what if there is some truth to it? What if the world can still be saved?

How to prepare
Players will need a computer and web browser compatible with Foundry VTT, a Discord account, a microphone, and a webcam. TTRPGs are a social game and webcams help facilitate the feel of being in a room together at a table. With that said, you are not required to have a webcam. Everything else will be provided by the GM.
What I provide
A FoundryVTT server and the official Foundry module for the fourth edition of Twilight: 2000 from Free League Publishing. A Discord server. A short campaign overview about the world and setting. Consent Checklist document. X cards are handled through a module in Foundry.
Gameplay details
This game is 18+ due to its subject matter. We will use a consent checklist prior to the start of the game. This is a beginner and LGBTQ+ friendly game. I'm new to the 4th edition of Twilight: 2000 so we will learn the ropes together. We are several sessions into the campaign. Characters are a mix of U.S./NATO soldiers, local soldiers, or civilians. It is a lethal game so player characters might die but what they do with the time they have is worth exploring. The stories of this game are created by us together. They are not written down beforehand. You have control over your character's lives – and there is plenty to do: Stay Alive, Help Those in Need, Search for Information, Find or Make your own Safe Haven, Find a Way Home, Reset the World GM Details: I’m a novelist and writer for tabletop role-playing games. I’ve been playing and running various TTRPGs since discovering the Dungeons & Dragons basic set in grade school. Most recently, I’ve run The One Ring, Star Trek Adventures, and Twilight: 2000 (4th edition). In my approach to tabletop role-playing games, I embrace the belief that each game serves as a platform for collaborative storytelling within the framework of its rules. My primary aim is to empower players to immerse themselves in a narrative style of play, fostering shared storytelling between them and the GM. These games, in their essence, echo the timeless tradition of oral storytelling, a practice ingrained in our history long before the advent of written language. Stories are integral to our understanding of self and the world, often giving rise to myths and shaping our perceptions. While I emphasize 'theater of the mind' as our main canvas, I do incorporate visual aids like maps and tokens when they enhance the experience. Stories are at the heart of tabletop role-playing games. It's why I love them. I've been both GM and Player for over twenty years. As a GM, I try to lean into the collaborative storytelling aspect of these games. Though Twilight: 2000 uses maps and tokens, expect a narrative focus. My passion lies in facilitating collaborative storytelling within the virtual confines of our tabletop sessions. What you need: - A free account at Forge-VTT.com - A free Discord account - A good microphone (camera optional) CANCELLATION POLICY: Life happens.
