About the adventure

Dive in to old school gaming and take your soon to be heroes on a life-changing journey. Explore, survive and gain the riches of a vast underground world of strangeness and danger. Discover my homebrew world inspired by the adventures of Conan and rooted in Southeast-Asian mythology. In this mini-campaign you will be encouraged to find ways to overcome odds rather than hack and slash your way through. Solve problems through roleplay and creative ideas. Most importantly, you, as a player, can decide where to take the story and what kind of hero you will become. New players are welcome, I am always happy to explain any aspect of the game as necessary. What I will provide: Enthusiasm, a safe and inclusive space, cooperative story telling, realistic and fair rulings - with a dash of rule of cool Join if you are: interested in creative problem solving more than combat, like personal character arcs more than minmaxing, want to create a great story with the GM and the players instead of winning What I cannot cater for: Bigotry, murderhobos, sexual role play

About me

I started roleplaying in the mid 90s an I ran a myriad of well known and indie systems. I narrowed the list down to a few carefully picked games that I truly love to make sure I can bring the best experience to the players. I have introduced a lot of new players to ttRPGs in general and to specific systems as well, explained Blades in the Dark more times than I could count. I have a lot of experience in walking players through new systems in an entertaining and efficient way so that we can get to the adventuring as quick as possible. I believe we can only have fun if everyone at the table is having fun. As such I place a huge emphasis on inclusivity and keep my player's wellbeing in mind at all times. When not running RPGs or creating terrain, I study Tai Chi Chuan, meditation and Chinese Medicine - as such the homebrew world I created for my fantasy games are influenced by oriental and SE Asian culture and folklore. If you are interested in discovering new worlds and explore your character during play, hop on board and let's have a game together.

Character creation

Creating your character

The characters will be rolled up on session zero and if needed, during the games. As characters can die suddenly in OSE, I suggest instead of bringing a detailed background story it would be better to develop characters throughout playing.

The current party

A short campaign of 4 sessions every Sunday in November to dip your toe into Old School Dungeon Delving

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need discord and a microphone. Camera optional. We will use Foundry VTT to handle all the record keeping but physical dice are welcome so keep your math rocks at hand if you are into them - I know I am. Looking through the rules will be useful but not essential.

What Tamas brings to the table

I will bring all the virtual assets needed (Foundry VTT, maps, tokens, images). I will also bring dozens of dungeones handpicked from the OSE original releases, third party dungeons made for OSE or adapted from original 80s dungeons.

Safety

How Tamas creates a safe table

On session 0 we will discuss lines and veils and will use the X card during the games. After the session we will do a debriefing to make sure everyone is happy with the direction the adventure is going. The amount of combat will be always down to the players - most situations will have solutions other than direct confrontation and the game actively encourages players to take these (if they want to stay alive that is). Players will have the chance to discuss tactics both for them and their retainers (or hirelings). If players will die (sometimes the dice gods are not in our favour) I will prioritize getting a new character back in the game. I am always happy for characters roleplaying and I will give it as much space as the players wish. The amount of puzzles will be down to popular demand, I can amp them up or scrap them as required.
