About me

Hey there! I'm an author, artist, and game designer who's been running West Marches style games for about 5 years. I joined SPG to try running the modules I never got to include in my other campaigns, and meet new people! My schedule recently freed up, letting me dedicate far more time to make more maps, run more games, and overall improve my craft. Being an artist allows me to make new maps and assets quickly, and my technical knowledge of foundry makes running games a breeze. I look forward to playing with y'all!

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will use CompCon, the website developed by Massif Press to generate LANCER characters. This website is free, and has an option for creating an account (so as to maintain your characters).

The current party

Welcome to the game! We'll be playing 1-2 times per week with a drop-in drop-out structure for those looking to get a quick introduction *or* make a longer commitment to the game. If you want to play, but the proposed session time doesn't work for you, please don't hesitate to reach out. Meeting times are flexible!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need a microphone (no webcam needed) and join the foundry server ahead of time. Obviously, you must have a device capable of playing on foundry. Finally, we'll be using CompCon to create your characters during our first session. This is a free website made by the Lancer devs, and is very intuitive to use.

What James Streissand brings to the table

- Read-made Foundry server to play with the party and contain your sheets! - Custom maps made with a blend of Inkarnate and Cinema4d! - Immersive and sense-heightening background soundtracks! - Fast paced and well prepared combat encounters! - Voice acting and narration! - Tokens and other visual goodies for the players to enjoy!

Homebrew rules

We will be using the Lancer: Far Field playtest rules for many narrative scenes and exploration sections.

Safety

How James Streissand creates a safe table

In Session 0 we will talk about our characters, set expectations for the game, make sure we are all set up with Foundry, and (time permitting) start off the campaign! Players are free to take breaks, and I always make sure to schedule at least one break during the session. Combat is intended to have a fast pace, but new players will be free to ask both myself and other players for advice during their turns. This is intended to teach you the game, after all; not scare you away from it! The campaign will progress to License Level 4. After that, we'll discuss whether the campaign would like to continue, restart, or continue in a different direction.
