About the adventure

You are members of a minor house under House Fanel, one of the High Houses ruling the city of Rosford from the shadows - and by extension the Kingdom of Avonshaw. With the passing of Lord Cornelius Fanel three months ago, the control of the High House has passed to Benedict Fanel in a series of rather strange circumstances. The minor houses are now vying for power under the new regime, your own included. Whether you have joined in with the political jostling or have chosen to ignore it so far, you cannot ignore the summon of your own house lord... Survive the political intrigues of the High Houses, choose a side in the developing Fanel Feud, or make your own bid for power. Whichever path your choose, you'll need to keep your wits about if you plan to see another day. -- This game is set within a homebrew world. The story will be driven by the players' choices and as such will be focused on roleplay - though you can still expect a health dose of combat and puzzles to spice up your characters' lives.

About me

Welcome, adventurer! So you want to learn a bit more about me? Well, let's see... Online, I usually go by Witch - bit of a personal thing. I'm told the French accent is still thick enough that it comes through clearly. I'm taking my players' word for it. I was playing AD&D before Wizards ever thought of creating the Third Edition. There, that should give everyone an idea of both how long I've been into roleplaying games and how old I am! Game mastering came a bit later though - back in rural France and before the age of the Internet, it was quite hard to find people to play with and learn game mastering from, funnily enough. As a player, I've got some experience with GURPS, D20 Modern, and Vampire. But as a game master, I've chosen to focus on D&D. I enjoy creating situations for my players and their characters' personalities to shine through. I mainly bring people to my world though I've been known to run mini-campaigns on the Sword Coast or Eberron. On the tech side, I run my online games using Foundry VTT and theatre of the mind. And I make sure those not familiar with Foundry have my help as and when needed.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will start at level 3 and initial concepts will be discussed during session 0. You will also roll stats alongside your fellow players to ensure fair play. Following this, you will be given access to a world primer, to learn more about the setting, and you will have the opportunity to discuss your character's background, knowledge, and connections.

The current party

Characters will start at level 3. Stats will be rolled during session 0 and the party alignments will also be decided then.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

All players should have the following: - a decent microphone - a Forge account (the free version is enough) - a Discord account Please note: the Forge/Foundry VTT setup seem to favour those using a Windows PC and the Chrome browser. Other combinations do work mostly (including using tablets). They just do not always work as well. Knowledge of the D&D 5e ruleset is an advantage though not necessary.

What Witch brings to the table

Beside my knowledge as a GM and my determination to ensure all my players have fun? I'll bring cool music, flashy animation for your spells and weapons, digital maps to show you exactly how close that owl bear is standing... You'll also get to decide what your digital dice look like, if you want.

Homebrew rules

Flanking allowed, drink a potion as a bonus action, Learn From Your Mistakes (10 crit fails will earn you a feat), Modified Critical Hits (second die gets maximized)

Safety

How Witch creates a safe table

I will send each player a copy of the Consent in Gaming form to fill in and we will discuss Lines and Veils during Session 0. At that time, we will also go through character creation. If you are joining the game mid-campaign, I will make time to got through a mini session 0, set out our Lines and Veils, introduce you to the setting and the story and make sure that the game is generally a good fit for you. I build in a 10 minute break during sessions to allow players a rest, through any player can step away from the table at any time if they need to.
