About the adventure
Wintersong Adventures take place in an entirely homebrew campaign setting! Enter the world of Vetrhjarta, where overflowing magic both enriches the landscape and gives birth to endless hordes of monstrosities that seek to overtake civilization. While each party’s adventure can lead them anywhere in this world, most nations exist solely as city-states with high walls surrounding majestic capitals that house magical means of producing resources. Safeguarding civilization is paramount, and while travel is difficult, it is only through the combined efforts of each major kingdom that the weak period of peace keeps from teetering over the edge and into chaos. Most of these campaigns involve equal amounts of role-playing, diplomacy, exploration, and combat. Despite the fact that this is a high-powered fantasy setting with lots of magic, creatures, and weapons, you’ll find that nothing any one person can utilize will not be enough for survival. It is no small thing to brave into the hazards of the world at large, not to mention the arcane dungeons that routinely need to be cleared of devious creatures. Vetrhjarta is a world of conflict that has been living through a period of relative peace. Much like in our world, the looming threat of violence is always in the backs of peoples’ minds, and the fear that they may soon find themselves embroiled in a global war for survival pushes these people to commit immoral acts. As mounting pressure weighs down each member of the party as they garner greater successes, they may find themselves choosing between staying true to a heroic path of making certain compromises in the name of peace. Wintersong is an entirely original campaign setting! There are 5 all-new classes with 3 subclasses each, as well as dozens of subclasses for existing DnD 5e classes. With a magic item creation system, a vehicle and base management system, a new system for managing large armies and territory, and an emphasis on role-play, this is a setting for people who are looking to take the standard tabletop experience and *build* upon it. There exists a variety of governments, political factions, enterprising guilds, scheming NPCs, and adventurous allies to discover!
Cliffnotes at the top for people who don’t like wasting time! System: DnD 5e Campaign Style: Open-world Homebrew Paid: Yes, 15$ USD per session Time: 7PM EST - 11 PM EST (End time is sometimes later if there’s a big fight!) Days: Mondays! Communications: Discord Voice Chat Camera: Required Slots Available: 2 slots currently remaining! If you're looking for a new Monday campaign to help you kick-start the week, then you're in luck! The Wintersong Adventurers are looking for some new players to join us! The campaign's story is deceptively simplistic - a critically important package needs to be sent to its destination by the end of the year. The problem? There are massive apex predators, opportunistic NPCs and factions, personal character obligations and distractions, and territorial dragons, all of which threaten to take you off your path and towards failure! The campaign focuses around survival and resource management, combat and strategy, and interactive choices that will massively influence how your journey develops! There will also be elements of exploration, espionage, and plenty of roleplaying opportunities. New players will join our campaign at level 6, at the beginning of summer in this campaign setting. As a Homebrew setting, players will find themselves immersed in a unique world with several original concepts that directly influence gameplay. I also offer entirely original classes and subclasses for our players, if you're looking for something brand new! It’s difficult to navigate online gaming groups these days. With the wide variety of games, tables, and DM styles, players are going to undoubtedly have questions about what groups would best suit their playstyle - and, more importantly, make them feel welcome at the table. The Wintersong community promises that your games will be administered by a professional Dungeon Master with over a decade of experience, surrounded by people who are patient and understanding of your personal needs. This is an 18+ community, so if you play in one of our campaigns, you’ll be with other adults who desire to maintain a positive, inclusive table. Bigotry and discrimination is not tolerated anywhere in the community! We use the Session Zero and X-Card safety tools for our group. So, if you want to play a full 5e campaign with a group of people who won’t make you feel excluded or unwelcome, with an experienced DM, feel free to respond here or contact argentauthor on Discord!

How to prepare
Players need a webcam, a mic, a web browser like Chrome or Edge, and enough coffee and energy drinks to keep them going throughout the evening! Character sheets are stored in Foundry. It is requested that players not get super drunk during sessions, but drinking is allowed! The great thing about Foundry is that even though there are many, many modules and addons, most of the settings for the user experience are optional and persist through each session. That means you won't need to spend a lot of time preparing your UI each session and can just jump right back in! I expect players to have read through, at the very least, the class they want to play and some of the basics of the Player's Handbook. Beginners and first-time players are welcome to join!
What I provide
The DM will provide absolutely everything that is needed for the players to engage in an immersive online environment. Access to the Virtual Tabletop (Foundry VTT) is a no-brainer, but with Foundry comes a slew of game-enhancing addons, UI improves, customizable 3D dice options, spell and attack animations and sound effects, fleshed-out compendiums for players to review, and much, much more. Maps for settings and encounters involve professional-quality artwork purchased from artists' Patreons, including animated battlemaps and isometric maps. There is also a Discord server community with dozens of chatrooms that can be toggled on and off, access to DnDBeyond and a variety of other online resources for book reading and character planning, and a host of other online resources that players can partake of. I also offer basic token creation services, and can even offer players the ability to have a 3D-printed model of their character shipped to them after they have been playing for 8 sessions, customized on Hero Forge! I'll also be bringing in-game playlists for purchased music, rulesets and sheets for Homebrew systems and classes, remote access to the VTT server, a monthly-updated backup of the server and private lessons so players can learn how to host and DM games of their own, and more!
Gameplay details
If you're looking for a new campaign to help you finish off your week, then you're in luck! The story is deceptively simplistic - a critically important person needs to be escorted, in secret, to their destination across the ocean. The problem? There are massive apex predators, opportunistic NPCs and factions, personal character obligations and distractions, and territorial dragons, all of which threaten to take you off your path and towards failure! The campaign will focus around survival and resource management, combat and strategy, and interactive choices that will massively influence how your journey develops! There will also be elements of exploration, espionage, and plenty of roleplaying opportunities. We will be starting this brand-new leg of the campaign at level 3, at the end of the year in this campaign setting. As a Homebrew setting, players will find themselves immersed in a unique world with several original concepts that directly influence gameplay. The Wintersong setting also offers entirely original classes and subclasses for our players! It’s difficult to navigate online gaming groups these days. With the wide variety of games, tables, and DM styles, players are going to undoubtedly have questions about what groups would best suit their playstyle - and, more importantly, make them feel welcome at the table. When you join this table, your games will be administered by a professional Dungeon Master with over a decade of experience, surrounded by people who are patient and understanding of your personal needs. This is an 18+ community, so if you play in one of our campaigns, you’ll be with other adults who desire to maintain a positive, inclusive table. Bigotry and discrimination is not tolerated anywhere in the community! Don't worry about your personal skill levels, either. This is a game about creativity, diversity of thought, and imagination. If you are a newer player and are worried if you can or can't do something, the job of the DM is not to tell you "no", but to tell you *how* to do it! That means that beginners and first-timers are more than welcome to join the table. You won't be dragging anyone down! When it comes to content, there are only a handful of topics that are completely off the table for sessions. Real-world issues are definitely something we all try to avoid. We use the X-card system, and we also make sure to go over boundaries and hard lines whenever there's going to be sessions where difficult content might come up. The bulk, overwhelming majority of the sessions won't push boundaries and limits as far as content goes, but encountering some of these issues is not an impossibility. If lines are crossed in game, players can throw down an X-card, we take a quick bathroom break, and then we come back and have a quick conversation about what we're going to retcon and how we're going to proceed in the future.

How will character creation work
Characters will begin at level 3, and you can expect to increase by roughly 1 level every 4 to 6 weeks based on the amount of time spent in-game. Character creation is handled in Foundry VTT, through the assistance of a module which contains all of my purchased Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition content - which is to say, all 5th ed. content. We use a dice rolling system for stats that gives higher than average yields, and character creation involves a personal session 0 with the DM to go over backstory elements and important events. Players will also begin a process to establish important story anchors between their characters and their current assignments, which concludes with a brief meeting involving all the players to make sure no one's character would be a source of above-game conflict.
