About the adventure
Amongst the Free City of Acaireil, your band of adventurers find themselves in a time and region in motion. Commerce, exploration, survival. These are chief concerns of the residents of the myriad floating Myrathrous Isles. The city itself a bisection of social class. The wealthy and powerful find themselves within Upper Acaireil upon the floating island's Giant ruins which set the foundation for Acaireils' astutely named "Cloud District". Far below at the surface of the ocean is Lower Acaireil, a semi-permanent flotilla of interconnected vessels and platforms dubbed simply "the Ports". The ramshackle lower city ebbs and flows with new arrivals and departures as well as the threats of the open seas. The people here are workers, dealing in fishing and deep sea exploration. Merchant vessels from both Gamlesette and Kareweth arrive daily, especially in calm seas. Looking up from these rafts one sees a large metallic chain paralleling several industrial lifts which connect to the massive floating island above. Several other chains hang and connect to many of the immeasurable islands up above, forming the renowned Isles of Myrathrous. Ruins, forests, mountains, and even lakes span many of these islands. Many lie unexplored and...are rumored to teem with riches and artifacts of old. However, access to these places of wonder is not easily acquired! The Cloud District is inaccessible without proper permissions... Join a would-be treasure hunting party in an expedition into one of the uncharted isles of Myrathrous. Discover the ancient secrets of the Isles and what happened to the ancient Giant residents. Or perhaps seek escape from the harshness of these ocean cities...The main continent of Gamlesette lies to the west and the smaller continent of Kareweth to the east! Perhaps a merchant vessel could use some hired hands? All choices are the party's in this custom-created world of Gamlesette. Your decisions will be chief in exploring this ever developing and persistent world. There is a great big world out there just waiting to be discovered! There is no prewritten module here. All of your experiences will be created according to character backstories, ambitions, and what the various plot hooks and villains may entail... The campaign is will begin at level 1. The campaign will be ongoing into perpetuity until a fitting conclusion is reached. Be prepared for the long game...This is meant to be a long campaign! Music provided includes the Discography of Will Savino - Music D20, commercial use permission granted. Maps will be provided via creation through Inkarnate RPG map-maker with commercial license. A World Anvil for the realm of Gamlesette is available for lore and session information.

About me
Are you new to Role Playing Games? Want to learn and you're intimidated after listening to a dozen podcasts and reading how you need a 'perfect build'? Are you interested in sinking your teeth into D&D 5e, Pathfinder 2e, or Starfinder, but don't have a group? Look no further because I've been there and done that! Through my life D&D has popped up occasionally, yet would always fall by the wayside because I "didn't have the friends to play". Well, in early 2021 that all changed due to my lovely wife. I mentioned it one day at lunch and she said this simple phrase, "Sounds fun. I can get people if you want." She came back with 15 invites and 7 confirmations...a huge party for a first time DM that's for sure! Luckily for you, if you're already here, you don't necessarily need an awesome person like my spouse to help you get started! You already found the perfect place here at SPG to find a group and a GM (me!) to help you get started into this wonderful world of fantasy and imagination! What I love about TTRPGs is setting up scenarios, playing through combat, and seeing what whacky and crazy ideas my players come up with! Some of the best moments happen when a player starts off with "So…I have a crazy idea…". Don't forget that! My passion is bringing in new or inexperienced players into this wonderful hobby with care and patience. So if you're a new player I WANT to teach you everything you need/want to know! I love helping players bring their character concept to life by helping guide them through character creation and building a backstory. Working with a player on their character and integrating their adventurer's backstory into a living world is what I strive for in many of my campaigns. It brings true joy when a player falls in love with their character concept and actually sees it play out in session! Once your character is all set, expect a living world, some cool adventures and a story driven not just by me, but by the table as a whole! All games are run on Roll20 VTT using Discord for Chat/Video (optional video). In-Game Music largely composed by Will Savino [https://wsavino.com/] Roll20 Pro Access & Extensive Compendium Access! World Anvil - Work in Process!

Creating your character
Character creation will occur during session zero as a group. Some helpful information can be found in the World Anvil page relevant to the campaign. For late joiners, I will communicate via discord and we will work out your character together! Most important, especially for new comers, is just to have a character concept. Who are they, how do they interact with the world (magic?strength?skill?), and what are they good at?
---ALL SLOTS ARE TAKEN--- Weekly Thursdays at 8pm EST. If this setting does interest you please feel free to message me and we can discuss a point to join in. Links to Roll20, Discord, and World Anvil will be available upon sign up! Any new sign ups will be brought in for a personal Session Zero discussion as well as assisted with character creation for this setting. Most character options will be approved! Since this campaign is well into it's story at 50+ sessions, any new additions will be considered "Guest" characters pending a few sessions game time. This will allow me to evaluate if your playstyle is a good fit with our longstanding table. Any beginners don't feel intimidated! I will work WITH you and show you the ropes (as will the other players I'm sure!)

How Dungeon Doug creates a safe table
The gameplay is completely open-world. Characters are free to pursue whichever hooks or places of interest they like. Be warned, the world is living and villains will still pursue their goals... (this is a story of heroes...ignore hooks at the world's risk). I strive to make combat run very fluid, but also be engaging and interesting. I will do my best to describe your characters actions in proper heroic [or blundering] fashion. Roleplaying between characters is definitely a plus, so feel free at any time to break into conversation to build rapport or discuss events. If you aren't comfortable speaking in character feel free to roleplay 3rd person and speak about your character taking actions or having dialogue. I run according to rules, but am flexible and will throw in Rule of Cool at times. If you have a question of how to play or a rule, feel free to ask. If you want to do something really cool that probably won't work...well sometimes the dice tell their own story! We are all here to have fun, roll some dice, and save the world! Content Warning: The game may contain some graphic descriptions of violence during combat or other scenes. These will not be overly gratuitous, but sufficient to describe the impact of the actions. If an arrow pierces a chest, there will be bleeding. There will be NO depiction of sexual acts. The furthest this will go, and be allowed to go, is an allusion to characters as a "fade to black". There will be NO depiction of rape or unwanted sexual advances. As a TTRPG, there are times where other players will introduce concepts or topics which feel...uncomfortable. Use the tools below to help! Safety Tools at Work: 1. X Card - at any point in a session simply type in an "X" and that will be the cue to "move along" 2. Session Zero discussion of Veils and Lines. We will discuss items you find to be "lines" where they should not be discussed and "veils" which are topics best left as a "fade-to-black" and kept in the background. 3. Open Discussion - if comfortable, always feel free to state you are uncomfortable with what's happening via PM or just outright saying it. I will direct us to move on as best as I can. A debrief may be warranted!
