About the adventure

Explore a long-lost wizard's mansion trapped inside a pocket dimension; what wonders, mysteries, and horrors will you find? A 4-hour one-shot Adventure for experienced and new players using the 5e of Dungeons and Dragons system for Level 3 adventures. - Hook - You have received word from your good friend Matreous, a dwarf sage who is currently studying at the greatest library in the world, Candlekeep.  His message is a little cryptic, but he promises it will be well worth your time and to bring along a few other allies. Safety in numbers and all that.    You have gathered a small party of fellow adventures and head south towards Candlekeep. The weather is fair, and sparrows follow you, a good omen.   You arrive at the Good Travelers Inn, where Matreous has ordered a round of drinks for you and the party and sits down to tell you his latest discovery. - Systems and Programs - I use Owlbear rodeo for the map, it's a free web browser program and very easy to use. For communication, I use discord as the default but can switch to skype if needed.   - Creating your character - Create a Level 3 Player Character for the One shot. Feel free to use D&D beyond, or print out your own sheet - Use whatever system you feel most comfortable using. I can also provide pre-made characters if you are new and want help. Please keep to the 'classic' races - Anything from the PHB is fine. (message for anything outside that) No Artificer classes. But all other official WOTC are welcome.   Starting Items.  - Choose any two weapons. (non-magical)  - A shield (if you are proficient)  - A piece of armour deepening your proficiency.  - Leather (Light armour) - AC 11 + Dex  - Chain shirt (Med armour) - AC 13 + Dex max 2  - Chain mail (Heavy armour) - AC 16 (Str min 13) - Dis on stealth    No need to worry about other items; if you want to use something (rope, a flint) and it makes reasonable sense that your character would be carrying it, I will say you have it at the time.    Creating a backstory is always fun, and I encourage you to be creative, but it is unlikely we will have time to hear them. It’s a one-shot after all.  The adventure is mostly exploration with some puzzles and simple fighting encounters.    If you have any questions or need help creating your character, do let me know.   And send me artwork of your character (Representation), so I can turn them into tokens. - Final Words - I have run this adventure several times and have had great feedback from players. I have made adjustments from the original adventure, adding in extra starting and ending elements, new monsters, and a mystery for the players to solve. so even if you have played this adventure before it will feel fresh and new.

About me

Hello Adventurers! My name's Alex, and I've been running TTRPGs for over five years as a GM. My focus is on making a fun and satisfying story regardless of player history with the game, running games for seasoned adventures to first-time players. All my adventures are well thought out, with interesting twists, classic monsters, fun puzzles and memorable NPCs. As a player, you will leave truly feeling like a hero. I look forward to going on the adventure with you.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players will be level 3 for this adventure. Any system the player would like to use is welcome (Pen and paper, D&D beyond) The GM can provide pre-made characters or assist in creating one.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A microphone is required. A webcam is not required - but is encouraged. Players will need a basic understanding of 5e rules; if this is your first game, I would recommend informing me, and I will spend some time before the game to talk through. Have a character ready before the session starts (will not create during) - and in front of them ready to use. Discord and a web browser for Owlbear rodeo. Owlbear rodeo has inbuilt dice - But players can role their on physical dice if they want.

What Alex Goodhew brings to the table

I will bring the Adventure. I will use a webcam and Microphone. I will have all maps and tokens ready on owlbear rodeo.

Safety

How Alex Goodhew creates a safe table

Players can expect fast-paced combat in this mostly exploration adventure. I usually play for 2 hours, then have a 15 min break, followed by another 2 hours. If a player needs to step away, please type AFK so I know - the adventure will continue with your turn in combat held (moved down initiative) until you return. Any exploration will assume your character is silent and following the main group. If at any stage, a player feels uncomfortable with a subject, they can ask for an immediate stop. Abusive or degenerative behaviour by a player during the session will result in the game being stopped and that player most likely be removed.
