About me

A professional Game Master and TTRPG Game Designer since 2004, Steel loves invoking evocative mental imagery as he guides his players through stories full of exploration, socialization and intense adventure! Having a lot of experience in all three chairs of TTRPG gaming (Player, GM and Game Designer) I have a unique perspective and understanding of gaming as a whole, which gives me insight into how to best write, plan and run game for my varied players. I am also open to game requests! Feel free to hit me up so we can discuss the perfect game you want me to run for you!

Great for beginners, was straight up fun and they provided some soundtrack to listen to to help set the moods, great for adding that bit extra to the world fleshing it out and making it feel like you are really there.

The amount of thought and backstory that went into the premade characters was wonderful. I felt very comfortable even as a newb to this system. They really set the scene and made the world vibrant and believable.

After only playing at conventions, I was blown away by how much more involved an actual session is with Steel. I absolutely loved his GMing at cons, but this real game was far better than I could have ever imagined.

Had good fun on the start of the adventure, looking forward to session 2.

Playing with Steel is fantastic! I was able to get familiar very quickly with the games they ran, and also knows how to keep the game going at a nice pace. Each session was as memorable and wonderful as the last with great characters to go along with it. I highly recommend taking the chance to play one of their games when you can!

Steel has obvious strengths in world building, roleplay, and bringing out the best in their players to collaborate in creative story telling. This GM focuses more on roleplay rather than tactical dice rolling, favoring "theater of the mind" type games rather than favoring more combat oriented game mechanics. Incorporating visual and audio aids, clear voice acting, having patience for new players, and being inclusive to players' wants, needs, triggers, and desires rounds out Steel to be a delight to have as a Game Master.

Character creation
Creating your character

Players will be able to pick from a large selection for premade characters so they may dive straight into learning and gameplay! Slight tweaks to a character may be requested to better suit a preferred playstyle! Characters will be slightly stronger than base level, allowing a little more flexibility and survivability while players gain their bearings over the course of the story.

The current party

Friday nights! Episode 1: "Call of the Wyld" - Oct. 21st Episode 2: "The Big Decision" - Oct. 28th Hiatus on Nov. 4th Episode 3: "Living on the Edge" - Nov. 11th

What to expect
Preparing for the session

All players will require is a working microphone, a Discord account (where game will be held) and a bit of imagination! A program for viewing and editing PDFs (I suggest Foxit) would also be very helpful for character sheet bookkeeping, but isn't necessary!

What Steel brings to the table

As this will be using the "Theater of the Mind" style of playing, there will be no VTT or map to worry about, players can let their imaginations soar! I will be providing all of the necessary documentation and can also handle all of the rolling needed for the game to keep the game moving swiftly (although the Discord dicebot can handle rolls as well!) I will also bring over 2 decades of experience in both Game Mastering and game designing to help tailor an amazing experience just for you!

Platforms used
Safety
How Steel creates a safe table

Players can expect a dark and gritty story full of tough choices, brutal and bloody combat all handled by a fair and encouraging Gamemaster/Storyteller. The ambiance for the world is rather dark and gloomy, so out-of-game jokes and comedy will be kept to a minimum so as to keep the mood appropriate! Roleplaying and clever problem solving are both encouraged and rewarded! Although the campaign is designed for teaching new players the ropes, anyone is allowed to join in! A Lines & Veils sheet will be sent out upon signup. There will be a break halfway through each game, as well as a short debrief at the end of each. X/N/O's will be done via Discord private message in order to maintain the utmost discretion.
