About the adventure

The Domains of Dread eagerly await your arrival. Whether you've grown up trapped within one such domain or this is your first visit, be prepared to see what it is that the Dark Lords and their realms have to offer. In this game, you will play as a character that will gain access to many of the realms of Ravenloft. While traveling, you will work to uncover mysteries, gain knowledge lost and/or forbidden, and explore the many Dread Realms. Characters will start at level three, and during this adventure should be able to get to level twenty. During this adventure, you will have the freedom to pick your own path and the story will follow the interests of the party. Make no mistake, however, details left ignored and some paths left untaken, especially in the hands of a Dark Lord, can come back to haunt you in the future. This game will include elements of horror both in theme and descriptions. We will talk individually about these, and then we will also be holding a Session 0 to go over Triggers that you would prefer to be avoided. This would also be the time that I will explain Lines, Veils, and Fades. As a GM, I enjoy character investment in the setting and story. I find that integrating character backgrounds and goals into the story can lead to that. Because of this, I enjoy players that want to bring in characters to develop as the story moves forward. For this, we will also discuss ideas individually as well as during Session 0 and group chats. My goal is to have players that want to work together, accomplish their goals while also helping others do the same, and at the end of the day come together as a team. In my games, expect plenty of opportunities for RP, political dealings, interactions with different groups and factions, and spending time making yourselves feel like part of a living world. There will be opportunities for downtime, character goals, and much more throughout the campaign. If this all sounds interesting to you, feel free to send me a message with any other questions or ideas. I'm looking forward to putting together this team and getting started!

Additional Details

How to prepare

I use voice in my games so a decent microphone and good internet connection will be necessary. I use some animated maps in foundry, but I do what I can to keep maps small enough to run on most computers without issue. For my players, I expect them to know how their characters work and the basic system. I am more than willing to help teach these and can spend some time making sure a new player understands the core features of their class. Characters can be made in foundry, or I can import a character from Dndbeyond into the game without issue.

What I provide

I utilize the Legendary Bundle on Dndbeyond that I share with my tables. I use the Forge with Foundry to make servers available between games. I subscribe to several Patreons to provide interesting maps and effects in my games. In each session, I will be prepared and excited to get started. I will do my best to ensure that all of my players are given chances at the spotlight and are encouraged to work together as a team. I will always be willing to listen as problems arise, and I am happy to problem solve issues if they occur.

Gameplay details

I enjoy utilizing Roleplay between party members as well as NPCs to watch characters develop. Because of this Roleplay will be very common throughout most sessions. I also make it a point to add in exciting chances for dynamic combat. Enemies will be played with their own motives and goals, and the environment can and will be utilized to create tactical advantages for either side. I utilize foundry for combat so vision, cover, and more will be taken into account for combat. I adapt things for my players in both these cases. If the party prefers more roleplay to less combat or really enjoys the combat side of things, the adventure will reflect that going forward. This is also true for things like Puzzles, Survival, and Downtime Mechanics. We will talk about all of this during Session 0 so that I can get a good idea of what combination is going to lead to everyone having the most fun possible. When it comes to experience level, I'm fine with walking you through character creation and class features if you're brand now, and I'm just as excited to have someone that has been playing for decades. This is a game for everyone!

How will character creation work

Characters will start at level three using Point Buy 32 points, max stat 16 before bonuses. If you need help with creating your character, I would be more than happy to help you in the creation process. Otherwise, your character can be made using Dndbeyond and then imported to Foundry.
