About the adventure

The gleaming jewel of the empire of Calimshan, the city of Calimport is the largest in all Fae'run. The city of glory is filled with wonderous magics, surrounded by the vast Calim Desert & on the edge of the Shining Sea. The year is 1372 DR, during the reign of the Caleph of Calimshan, Syl-Pasha Ralan El Pesarkhal. This is a dangerous city where the nobility rule the empire, the guilds run the streets & the average person is crushed under their boots. But there are some guilds who try to maintain order & stability within this cutthroat place. The Jhassinar Sodality, is one of those guilds. Working under one of the 12 pashas of the guild, you will seek adventure & glory, as well as more then a bit of gold. Will your name ring through the Harpers tales? Or will your bones be washed clean by the sands of time?

Recruiting notes

New Players that join after the campaign has started will be required to attend an onboarding session outside of the normal schedule to create a character appropriate for the group & setting. This onboarding session is charged. Current party level is 10.

How to prepare

This group has been invested in this campaign for several years now IRL, & as such we are only looking for players that are committed to showing up reliably. As such, for new players please make sure your able to make most sessions as that is the most important thing for this group. Barring emergencies, please try to keep missed session to once a month if possible. A discord account with quality microphone that allows for clear communication that doesnt have a ton of background noise. A PC that can meet the requirements to run Foundry Virtual Tabletop. Familiarity with the Pathfinder 1st edition rules is good but not required, as I will be supplying reference material via foundry for all the basic rules.

What I provide

I will be supplying the Foundry VTT for use with our game, with all the basic rules of Pathfinder 1st Edition input into it. Full custom created maps using dungeondraft & assets I've programed for it specifically for use with this game. Additionally, I own the entire 3.5 collection of forgotten realms books, & will be utilizing the campaign setting for additional content in addition to the pathfinder rules.

Gameplay details

This campaign will is focused on adventurers who are members of the Jhassinar Sodality, a powerful guild in the city of Calimport. The campaign focuses heavily on urban adventures within the city & also entering into this new arc, a focus on noble & guild intrigue. The party is currently level 9, & has just returned to the city of calimport after a lengthy quest, to find it in chaos. A guild war threatens to pull them into unending violence, vampires roam the streets at night & a jilted former client of theirs has placed a substantial bounty on all their heads. Lastly, after attending the wedding of a member of their guild, they are now faced with the sudden murder of their ally Svenvigerax, a legendary brass dragon who brought hope to the many slaves & poor huddled masses of the city. As the party grapples with all of this, can they pull together to face the numerous challenges ahead of them? Or will they be crushed under the evil that is the calimshan empire? The party consists currently of the following Human Unchained Monk(Drunken Master) from the Vast Dwarven Cleric of Morthammer Duin from Citadel Felbar Fetchling Unchained Rogue from Calimport Suli Polearm Fighter from Tethyr These games are very heavy role play focused, & lore focused. Role play & lore will be prioritized over hours of grinding combat. Since this is pathfinder, there is an expectation of crunchy grindy combat, but there will likely be entire sessions where no combat happens. Most sessions will be a mixture of intrigue & role playing depending on where the current plot line is going, as the player characters secure guild contracts, as well as make allies & enemies. We will be using material & starting rules from the 3rd edition Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting adapted for pathfinder 1e in addition to paizo published rules. Starting regions will influence additional bonus gear & starting languages, as well as access to some feats. This will override the starting languages that you are normally able to take per the pathfinder rules. 3rd Party published rules will not be allowed. Only official 3rd edition forgotten realms & pathfinder 1e content. Additional races will be allowed with minor changes from Races of Fae'run. Prestige classes from the 3rd edition setting will be available as well, but will likely require some tweaking to adjust. Red Wizards of Thay will not be playable, nor will any character be allowed from that region. No evil alignments will be allowed. Content Warning : Standard D&D shenanigans, killing monsters & stealing treasure. Calimport & calimshan does per lore include slavery, though we do not dwell on this fact & the PCs or their allies do not actively take part in this aspect of the city. Sexual content will always fade to black if it occurs, & will never occur between player characters unless all involved players consent. Lines & veils will also be honored & set up ahead of the campaign via discord chat, so that I can fine tune any plot content to avoid things players may not want to face in game. Additionally, I am always online via my discord both during & outside of game should you need to bring something to my attention, whether thats a veil thats being approached too close or something makes you uncomfortable.

How will character creation work

Since this is a long term campaign with a dedicated player group, new players will have a one on one zero session with me prior to their first session. This does mean if you join the day of game, its unlikely I will be able to schedule this same day. Afterwards communication & further background info will be conducted with everyone via a discord channel on the server I use. No character's will be approved prior to the zero session. This includes pre-generated characters, & all players will be required to meet the same character creation expectations of the table, which may vary from group to group. Classes that are not allowed for this campaign for balance or lore reasons are the inquisitor, brawler, slayer, gunslinger, alchemist, & summoner. If a players character concept also runs too much into another players I may also ask you to pick a different class or archetype, but this should be rare.
